Just added a 50W full spectrum COB, i have noticed it getting really warm when its been on for awhile. Whereas my QBs don't really get hot at all. Is this normal? Its actively cooled with a heat sink and fan,

pretty much normal because the COB i'm guessing has a 90° reflector which focuses the light and therefore the heat. the light is good for the plant but the heat not so much, especially if it's actively cooled maybe double check everything is working correctly, if so then yes it is normal for the focused light to generate focused heat. hope this helps !

Yes it is normal , the cob is one big chip to cool down but QB is a made out of many tiny chips. Based on that fact it will be easier to cool down many small hot spot than a solo big hot spot , the cob will generate more constant heat than the QB and that is why the QB only needs a heat sink to cool down the temps but the cob require a big big heat sink or a heat sink + fan combo 😊👍
