Do I need to lower my lights?

Do I need to lower my lights? I'm using a Kingbrite 240W Samsung lm301h and I just went into flowering period. I think the light is a bit overpowered for the room, so I've left it at about 21 inches above the tops of the plant. At this distance, all areas are getting 27k lux.

We used two 240w in a 4x4 in flower we kept them at 12 inches from the tops. Worked out great. šŸ¤˜šŸ˜¤

I would keep light closer for flowering. But in vegging you probably want the plant to stretch out some. Overall I think you may need to be a few inches closer. But watch center of light. They all run a hot spot. I use a ppfd reader. If you have one keep it under 2000.

12-16 inches for the light height.. Try 16 first.. But it's really hard to say for me anyway without measuring.. But I run lights close like 18-20 inches for 700 watt and 24-26 for my 530. When you run your light at 16" it will dramatically increase the rate at which it grows.. So it might make your grow go bad for the worse. Growing with more light is like growing with gasoline and you got to know what your looking at. Lots of folks on here think they have "too much" light when there are other problems.. not related to the amount of light.

Some quick googling (which I should have done first) shows that 27k is a bit low. My lux meter right under the LED comes in closer to 80k (iirc). I'll plan to drop my lights, what do you guys recommend for flowering stage with autos?
