GrowCNanswered grow question 3 years ago For big yield I like the ability to provide a minimum of 320 watts per square meter (30 watts per square foot) but 375 watts per meter (35 watts per foot) of white LED light is better. These are REAL watts, not artificial advertising or "equivalent" watts. I start at low light level 100-200 PPFD at the top of the plant for veg. I vary the intensity to "encourage" the size plant I want. Less light to make it stretch and get taller with more space between nodes and more light to force a smaller, more compact plant. Then during flower the lights go to high intensity to simulate sunshine.
I also like to use large fabric pots. For auto's I use 20 liter (5 gallon) fabric pots and for photo period I use 30 or 38 liter (8 or 10 gallon) fabric pots. I believe allowing the plant to grow a larger root mass allows it to grow a larger and more healthy canopy and produce more, bigger and healthier flower (bud). The fabric pot makes it very difficult to over water your plants and the good airflow allows good oxygen to the roots top to bottom for better growth. The downside is more evaporation so you have to water more frequently and extract the moisture to keep the humidity in your grow room under control.
