Coco or soil

Hey mate, Servus✌️ I'm changing atm. I'm doing my 2nd run with Coco and I do not think of going back to soil. Be sure to take quality coco which is not washed with salt-water. I can highly recommend the GoldLabel Series... very good stuff. You can feed the plant directly and not have to feed them via the soil. To me more comfortable. Also I safe some time due to Coco plants are growing faster. Startet with organic nutes and testing mineral nutes atm. Hope this helps a bit, good luck and happy trails for the rest of the way! Coco (40%) + vermicompost (40%) + bonemeal (10%) + organic soil (9%) + microbes, mycorhizae fungi , npk bacteria (1%)... there you go . Its like a supersoil... if you like to retain some extra moisture ; add vermiculite to the mixture.. though remember it holds extra moisture. I donot add perlite as above mixture has great drain ability and roots form really well when they get this loose medium full as growth space. Plus point ; you wont see deficiencies in this mixture as bacteria do the micronutrient work. Use 50/50 synthetic and organic nutrients with it and your plants shall reward you back!!! Hi! Coconut has some big advantages over growing in soil. It's light in structure and has a low specific weight. This means a lot less lifting (not unimportant! 😜) Due to its airy composition, coconut gives the roots of young cannabis plants better access to oxygen in the pot, simply because its fluffiness can hold more oxygen. Coconut also can't get too wet because excess moisture easily leaves the plant through the bottom of the pot. If you did this with soil, there would be too little oxygen left in the soil, causing root growth to stagnate. Another advantage is that coconut buffers the pH value due to the presence of minerals in the fiber. The benefits of the coconut medium are definitely worth considering trying it out once. It can also support multiple harvests, but you need to keep a close eye on the pH and EC. In the first harvest, the pH will remain fairly constant due to the buffering capacity. After this grow, flush the coconut well and then keep the pH of the nutrient water at a constant 6. One more difference... Coconut buffers but has no nutritional value. So, it's important that you add nutrients yourself. Moreover, by growing cannabis in coconut, you can achieve the same results as with hydro growing, even though your plants are just in pots. This is because your plants will grow well due to the good access to oxygen. So it can also be a nice stepping stone if you ever want to switch to a hydro system. I hope I could help. I prefer pro-mix which is basically peat and perlite. I like it because it holds on to moisture better than coco and seems to have less ph variation. If you have pro-mix available or some other brand of peat and perlite I would give it a try, however thats just my opinion, there are plenty of others who favor coco over pro-mix. It's up to you, of course you could always do one plant in coco and one in pro-mix and see which you like better. Happy growing.
