Other than recommended distance from the manufacture, how do I know how dim/bright the light should be? Also, since these are autos, do I flip at 5 weeks, or just keep going until I’m ready to?
Solved

Leave the light cycle on at the same timing the whole life of an auto—- 18/6, 20/4, or 24/0— whatever you do. I personally don’t dim after week two. Seedlings get 59% at 24 inches and I gradually increase power and decrease distance. Good luck ✌️🏻💚🌿

Autos don't need the light flip that's why they're called autoflowers. The light should be on full strength if hung at the correct distance 🌱👍

Handy to know, I saw that card there, but didn't really know how to convey this, haha. Thanks for clarifying this, The8thChevron👍 About those autoflowers, very poorly translated here, I think what is meant is whether the flowering switch needs to be turned on or not? That this isn't about the light cycle of an autoflower. Well, whatever is meant, both answers were given 😁 Thanks for filling in so well!!

You need to judge the ppfd, this is basically a measurement of light available for photosynthesis. Mars Hydro includes ppfd maps on their site and everywhere they sell their lights. Seedlings: 400 ppfd Veg: 600 ppfd Flower: 900 ppfd You can't really go by height recommendations, because where your plants are placed relative to the light make a difference. For example, a plant in the direct center will receive way more ppfd than one on the outskirts. This is why the maps are so handy. Mars Hydro is also very trustworthy with their maps. Sidenote: if you're using CO2 injection, your plants can handle higher levels of light. Autos will flower on their own, you don't need to flip at all. It's best to keep them on an 18/6 schedule throughout the entire grow. Some people choose 20/4 or even 24/0, but I'm a firm believer in dark cycles being beneficial.

Hi !
