36W UVA/Blacklight for seedlings?

JadedFury
JadedFurystarted grow question 3 years ago
I have read that Blacklight does not help the plant grow and since I do not know much just yet, I would just like to confirm the fact and whether my 36W UVA lamp would assist with the seedling stage? I am still learning and tried making my own grow dome πŸ˜¬πŸ˜•

Hi Jaded, it will help the seeds germinate for sure, i use a propagator like you and it really helps in my experience. Cannabis comes from very steep mountain ranges in Thailand that trap clouds of fog and humidity so that's why the plants really like high humidity. Anyway the blue UV will only help until a point, then the plant will start showing signs of weakness and it could die. try using any light you have around the house and put it as close as possible to the plant without burning it, it will complement the blue UV very well in the vegetative stage. After that, probably you need a better solution. Hope this helps ! πŸš€

Plants do need UV A and UV B for health, also white light, meaning using a UV light on its own is not sufficient for proper growth. Also, your seedlings do not need extra humidity or a humidity dome, cannabis is not a rain forest plant, but it does need good air exchange for proper growth, something not achievable in a closed environment such as a "humidity dome". Only cuttings/clones need hyper-humidity, since they do not have roots for a few days. Hope this helps,....... Organoman.
