Well you definitely don't want to FIM a colon, trust me your partner will get mad... As for colas, I would say yes in general. Really comes down to the shape you're looking for though.

And as too add on to @The8thChevron you can also increase this to doing 8 colas to keep a plant that is a tall grower shorter if height is any concern.
