Best not to top autos if you are after yield, just do some tying down.
Due to the limited life span before flowering begins, 3-5 weeks, and considering it can take up to 2 weeks for a plant to recover from "topping" . this leaves a very short time frame to grow big enough for being able to provide you with any sort of reasonable yield before flowering commences.
If space is limited and you need to keep the plants compact, top after the third or fourth node, but don't expect a huge harvest.
Since you seem to be fairly new to cultivation, keep things simple to start with and learn and observe your plants closely as to what does and doesn't work, so you can implement your discoveries into subsequent grows, making each grow more successful than the last.
You are on the path to being a master!
Oh, despite what others may have told you or what you may have read somewhere, give your auto an 18/6 light/dark cycle, this is the healthiest and happiest for any cannabis plant, auto or photoperiod plant in vegetative growth. Your plant does need to "sleep" and really can't grow for more than 18 hours in each 24 hour period. Giving any plant an unnatural light cycle without any dark/sleepy time, will stress your plants thoroughly and a stressed plant can not grow/make prime flowers. Your plant will be just as potent and grow just as much, if not more, at 18/6 than at 24/0.
Nothing on planet Earth is "designed" to live in a constant state of active growth, everything living needs a natural and normal circadian rhythm of grow/sleep/grow/sleep/grow/sleep.....
There is a reason why sleep deprivation is a torture technique - it drives people nuts. Growing a plant without a natural sleepy time will also drive it nuts and affect its health detrimentally.
Love your plant and treat it with kindness and respect and you will get loving and kind flowers in return!
Hope this helps,........
