Defoliate unhealthy leaves or not?

BlueDreamer1
BlueDreamer1started grow question 4 years ago
To defoliate or not? New growth is coming in even on stems. She is tiny due to watering issues. Would it help if I removed the really unhealthy leaves? I tried to put her in dwc and kept getting oversaturated rockwool. (Water 2" below netpot) Anyway removed her from rockwool....

It is indeed! Shes starring to perk up already. I can see the damaged leaves becoming greener. I'm really annoyed that I put all my trust into "Ph perfect" it's all bs 😂. Thabk you for the sound advice. Sorry I didn't take it right away! The PH was super unstable in that little res, I decided to move her after an hour the ph had gone up a fair amount. Shes in a foam collar, nothing else so I just drilled a hole in the new tank to fit the collar and popped her in 😝. This one is about 8L. Ph has stayed over night! EC has gone up by 0.02 so I think I'm looking good. Thanks for extra advice man! It's really helpful to know im back on track! Awesome thanks for the follow! I'll be putting some pictures of her recovery on a little later today!

my pleasure bro,any time. newer growth is coming green, there is hope, keep on feeding as you have been doing, things change quick in hydro setups, give it a week and I really hope you'll see improvement! check other factors as well, feeding regime looks good, you can even increase after you see she is recovering, if you are going to put it in a new tank. take care mate,I'll be following along.

Not a problem bro! You've got some really awesome grows that deserve some appreciation! I'm going to check out some of your other diaries when I get time. Thanks so much for your help! I went with your advice... So I've got some proper PH down, made a new mini res 5.79 PH (figured it will go up a tad anyway) 1146 EC (572PPM) turned my light down to 50%. How long do you think it will be before I see her perking up? Just so I've got a rough timeline, to know when I need to begin panic mode again 😂.. 3 years grow time is awesome! I hope I gain as much knowledge and manage to help out like you have with me. Yeah I figured I run into some issues.. not this many! But you can only really truly learn by doing it. No matter how much you read 😝. Thanks again man! I really appreciate you taking up your time to help me out! 👍👊

hi, i wont take away the leaves now, the plant is pulling out the nitrogen from them , to stay alive, just waituntil she made more new leavees, or the old ones are browner

Man,thanks for the kind words, i didnt expect something like that hahah much appreciated.im a amateur hobby grower who just started 3 years ago.im learning with every grow,i just feed them, make them feel relaxed and observe, thats all i do.problems expand knowledge.there is a lot of misinformation on internet, try to avoid as much as you can. Ph is critical for coco and hydro grows, soil can balance the ph in adequate conditions but coco can't.vinegar would drop your ph as its acidic but i use chemical ph down solution,i have no idea how frequent you should use vinegar.ph will probably rise again it but i recommend some ph down bottle if you arent going full organic.

Just checked out your grow. What an awesome job you did bro! I'm super jealous haha! So I did see some burnt edges on all of the side tips of my leaves, I was told it was cal mag. I gave call mag and it still hasnt cleared up on new growth so on that basis I think I'm going to rule out cal mag. All of my tips, side and at the end are burnt. But they dont point up like yours did. Thanks for the advice on PH I was really reluctant to change it because of other things I've read but you are clearly à very experienced grower. If it worked for you then it will for me also! Theres just so much conflicting information everywhere, about most things. I'm thinking about using rice vinegar to change PH down. Will that work? How often should I adjust it? Can I adjust a pre-made solution? Sorry for all the questions. You're knowledgeable and I dont want to stumble across something that's going to make me go wrong 😂👍 I'm thinking for now I should just fix my PH issue? See if that fixes it and not to worry about anything else? I've also been told my light may be a little much so I've turned that down also. Thanks again mate, I really appreciate it. I'm struggling badly as you can clearly see 😂

İ was thinking about what would i do if this was my plant,ph was the first thing to come to my mind.as i dont know your growing conditions other than dwc setup,ph is my only guess.potassium deficiency is another game, check out my panama diary late flowering, youll see potassium deficiency.youll see burnt edges first with K deficiency, very different than this.and it is very very unlikely for a plant to show K deficiency in very early vegetation. 6.5 is high for hydroponic grows, especially if strain is ph sensitive, blue dream is.

Thanks highroller! I have a ph of 6.5. Which is "apparently" perfectly acceptable with advanced nutrients PH perfect technology. It's high I know. I've been pondering the same thing. But due to the nutes being chelated its supposedly fine upto a ph of around 8 I believe. Definitely some serious issues. I just dont know how to resolve them! I've looked at images of deficiency symptoms and potassium is looking fitting also. Thanks for clarification on the nitrogen! Thanks for taking the time to help out mate. I'm really stumped as to how to help her. If it were you plant (unlikely it would look like this, I'm sure!) What would you do? I believe it's a huge no no adjusting PH with AN, so is there anything else youd try? I'm wanting to save PH until the last think if I can. Unless you think I 10000% should be adjusting.

you have ph problem. defoliation is out of question because there will be no leaves after you remove damaged ones.it doesn't look to have energy, to be honest.Observe it closely, there is something serious about that plant. As far as I know fastbuds blue dream, it is a bit fussy at the beginning and if there is a problem,it is likely to get sick. Not a N deficiency, don't try more nitrogen.

Thank you. I thought that but wasnt sure if she was putting energy into fixing them or not. I was torn between the two. I'm not sure of what to do to help her. I'm a new grower. She looks like she needs more nitrogen, but I'm unsure if it will upset her more giving her the extra N.

dont remove them until they are completely yellow, dry and crispy. plants suck out the nutrients they need from the older leaves to support the new growth, if you remove the damaged leaves now, the plant is forced to take the nutes from the even newer and healthier leaves, which will die eventually too.

Put her in a collar and put her straight in. She picked up massively. I'm wondering if the old leaves are holding growth back. She has new leaves coming in at stems but shes just so tiny theres no room for them. Should I chop or let them try and recover?
