It's not a must but its like another piece to the puzzle if you keep your humidity at a good level to suit your plants age, it varies as they age. I'm also a semi perfectionist so I definitely ad a humidifier though my early plant cycle helps the leafs stay healthy an healthy shiny leafs means healthy plant

I know the controller dpesnt break the bank but when you factor in a humidifier, de-humidifier and the running costs it will add up and take up grow space... you'll fit an extra plant and make up the yield that way with little to no extra costs.. just my 2 cents from a different outlook to your other comments.

I dont worry about humidity too much. Mine hovers between 30%-40% in the day and 40%-50% at night naturally. When my plants were germinating I had a dome on them. I'm a new grower so when looking into it I did a lot of research and I found a proportion of people saying it doesn't matter too much apart from in flower it needs to stay a lot lower. 30-40% range. As long as you've got a good extraction system I think you will be fine. I think my seedlings are doing pretty well so far, so it matches my findings. In my opinion I'd spend the cash elsewhere!

I run with an Inkbird, it's pretty straightforward to setup. I only use mine for temp though, I have a humidifier with a built in RH meter that works reasonably well. You're going to want to get a big enough humidifier for your grow space though, or you may be changing water a lot. One big thing to note is that the humidifier will only work well when your exhaust fan isn't overpowering it. For example, in a 4ft/4/8 grow tent using a Taotronics 6Liter, if I put my exhaust fan to more than half speed I will maybe be able to hold 50RH. If I set the exhaust to a third, I can easily make 70RH with extra water to spare for a few days. Balance that with your intake fan (if you plan on using one) to get a good slight vacuum and hold your temp at a nice 25c. a 4L humidifier can handle a 4ft/2/4 easily. After you deal with this stuff, you can start shooting for VPD. (Vapor Pressure Deficit) there are charts online.

Good thinking on your part. And yes, I use an ink bird humidity controller, works great U can run a humidifier and dehumidifier and adjust your settings on the bird. Read up on VPD, and you’ll be on your way Happy growing 🤘🏼
