Now I am growing in 12L 70/30 coco/perlite mix, and the plant is too big for my box.Next run I wanted to scale down to maybe 5L, hoping the plant size will be smaller. But then I saw some of the huge coco solocup grows, making me question the smaller container = smaller plant idea

Hi mate, big roots-big plant. However you can train your plant any way you want. You should check my most recent diary. I grow in a small space, 2ft x 2ft. 15 litre pots work well in that space. I train my plants using topping and LST to fill the space and she grows just fine. I tend to stick to indicas of short to medium plants as i like to keep the stretching down to a minimum in flower. The problem you could have with you pot being too small is the plant getting root bound. Although looking at your diary you plant is a monster and looking awesome. I wouldn't do anything to her now to increase her root space as you will shock her at this stage. I would just finish this grow and learn from it. try something different this time. I hope this helps, good luck and happy growing

The container size does relate to plant size. The frequency at which you can water in coco plays a big part too. The faster the plat goes wet/dry the faster the roots grow and in turn the faster the plant grows. So you can grow a bigger plant in coco than soil in the same size container. Hope that answers you question and happy growing!!
