MH, HPS distance?

So i am reading diaries that are using MH & HPS lights and Seeing a Distance of 10-18 inches from plant.
Are people really putting them that close during flowering stage?

Growing out instead of up.Please help out! I moved it into a new pot and topped it last week as suggested.
Also new ViparSpectra light at 45cm away @80% power.
Nutrients/food yet to arrive.
It seems to just be growing out instead of up, and starting to see some white/ burnt looking spots.

Slow indoor seedling growth4 days since sprout, issues with light timer, seedlings ended up getting 48 hrs of light after they sprouted, and this AM I found that the timer did not turn the light back on so it got 11 hours of dark last night instead of 6. Could this be detrimental to seedling?

I have scheduled the 8hrs sleep frm 5am-12pm (this is my sleep time) and now that I hve changed my sleep time, I would like to change their sleep time too, from 10pm to 5am. VIPARSPECTRA Pro Series 600W LEDDoes anyone have experience with the VIPARSPECTRA Pro Series 600W LED? I keep it , on average, 14" above the flowering tops. Can I move it a little closer with out burning them? Heat is not a problem, very cool running light.

Hey growmies✌️💚, so I finally have a PAR meter. With all my 3 LEDs on at the lowest setting I reach like 77 umol max. What would you recommend for seedlings that small like in the picture? I saw seedling/clone 100 - 300. So just wondering how much for my little flowers? 😁✌️

6” three week oldI was wondering if I stunted my plants’ growth by having my lights at max intensity right off the bat. I also didn’t have vpd dialed in til 2nd week. Organic soil.My pulse one has said 96 light intensity since I got it..should I be lowering the intensity of bulbs til flower?

Fan vs Fanless LEDsHow effective are heatsink LEDs? I'm not sure if I should go with fanless (like Mars Hydro SP150) or with a fan (Mars Pro II Epistar 120). Started the plants off with 60 watts. Increased to 100 watts today with a 20/5 schedule. Could I increase to the full 150 watts already or should I give them a few days with 100? Thanks in advance for any advice. It’s my first indoor grow with this setup and I’m still learning :)
