So i am reading diaries that are using MH & HPS lights and Seeing a Distance of 10-18 inches from plant. Are people really putting them that close during flowering stage?

Can I switch my lighting schedule ?Hello everyone. 1st grow here. I'd like to swap my lighting (automatic plants) from [4am:midnight] to [4pm:noon] just to keep the temperature a little higher at night. Manufacturers advice is to keep height at 12'' minimum above the canopy in flower but other growers report it can hang as low as 10''.
