Defoliation of all large fan leaves

When defoliating is it ok to remove all of the large fan leaves? I have read conflicting reports in some cases stating that it will stress the plants and even reduce yeild rather than increase? Any links that include pics would be appreciated. Thanks to all of you

Not an auto no she needs all the fans she has to convert the light in energy to make your buds bigger also the stress to a auto can slow her down dramatically. i would only remove dead and dying leaves otherwise you could risk slowing her down :) if you need to though only remove a few dont go crazy just open up some light for the bud sites and thats it :) best of luck

Don't do it! Those big fan leaves are THE energy factories that make your plant grow! Removing them will DEFINITELY stunt your plants, reduce yield and increase the liklihood of hermaphroditism. Just remember - Maximum amount of healthy green leaves = maximum energy production = maximum and fastest growth. It really is that simple and basic plant biology 101. Besides, if your plant did not NEED those leaves, it would not have grown them in the first place! Hope this helps, Organoman.

you read some bro-science... anecdotal stuff is dangerous. It's why the dust bowl occurred -> obstinate people that wanted to do things like their "pappy did" instead of employing more modern farming techniques and listening to research that is 100x more accurate than the human eye can resolve... lol.

You want to keep as many leaves as possible. The more leaves the more energy she will have for producing buds. When a leaf is not useful anymore the plant will start to pull nutrients out of it which is why the lower canopy will start to yellow. What you can do is remove any lower/inner bud sites that are not receiving light. This will direct focus to the bud sites that are in the light and you will get bigger buds and less popcorn buds. Happy Growing.

Not on any plant as the big fan leaves are your biggest energy producers. I like to fold and tuck, rather than remove.
