Should I wait till I'm home to defoliate, or let my plant sitter.

I have a variegated plant, but I won't be home for 10 days and I'm really considering letting them trim a few heavily variegated leaves to help with photosynthesis. I'm only on week 3, but she's an auto flower.

I would recommend to wait. Too early or too much could stress her during stretch. The variegated leaves don't help much with photosynthesis, but they still provide some support. Anyway there is not much to trim, right? Better to do a light cleanup yourself once you're back.😅

Hey growmie, I’d skip defoliation for now — Week 3 is a key point for autos, and variegated leaves already do less photosynthesis. Cutting them now could slow her down right before flower. Structure looks good, nothing’s really blocking sites. Just let the sitter water and leave her be. When you’re back, you can trim a couple if needed , but for now, less is more. Curious to see how that variegation shows up in flower!

defoliating the variegated leaves wont help with photosynthesis. itll take away the abilitiy it has to photosynthesize with the variegated leaves by taking them completely out. but if you leave them it will be able to some extent.

Wow such a beauty. I saw this variegation somewhere and then I remembered where. It was here : https://www.growweedeasy.com/cannabis-plant-problems/tobacco-mosaic-virus-tmv . I see your plant looks very healthy and has no curled or deformed leaves. But on the site I gave you if you scroll down a little is a example of a plant just like yours. Young and healthy, vigorous but same variegated. I don't know much more about this co called virus, just what the website states. And now to your question, for me I would not trim a lot, prob just 2 leaves and then LST. Or the other way is to top her once now and do a little LST. Both get good results, the topping is more aggressive and should be done only if you done it prior to this. But you know different people, different ways to grow. Wish you a good grow. Love Peace and Unity .
