Light Distance from Seedling

mrsomethingstarted grow question 3 years ago
i noticed my seedling has stretched a bit further than i’d like, especially in the first five or six days (probably due to insufficient light, i’ve upgraded it since). right now she’s sitting at 23cm from the light (9inches), is that a good distance, too far away or too close?

hi there mrsomething, you're better off now than you were, but you can get a bit closer like 6 to 8 inches max, it feels too close, but it's actually better that way. Hope this helps ! 🚀

Hi there, a couple of things to help: I keep seedlings cand clones with just 24w of flu old T5. If its a house common light bulb bring it to 2 or 3 cm from top of the plant, that Will work much better. Other thing, start with the smallest pots possible, couse plant Will always stretch with this lights and for first week adding support is a must, then transplant them to slighter bigger pot and bury the plant up to first round leafs. This way they Will not bend or break with the heavier top! Good luck!😉

This plant will contiue to stretch I can guarentee it the light is not the best for growth the plant will reach for the blue in the specturum making it go higher and higher full specturum led lights hung at the correct height can often eliminate this though growing with a bulb like this I would say anywhere between 20cm to 40cm. We all do the best with what we have though I fear this will not work my friend and if it does it certainly wont yield very much at all. Though I hope you prove me wrong :) Best of luck :) 👊

It's probably not the distance of the light it's likely to be the light isn't strong enough 🙏

Since those lights have a low photon output you should be okay, you should be able to see if she wants to stretch more( if she does get a better light) or starts to stack and thinking her stem . Honestly investing in a better light source will help you tremendously
