My question… What is the best height and brightness for the Viparspectra XS1500 for the very 1st stage of germination (seed to pot)… I can’t make sense of the manual and I’ve never started this process under this light before. Thanks

Download a light meter app for your phone. That way you KNOW your light level and aren't guessing at a height. My favorite app is "PPFD Meter". It can be quite accurate if you calibrate but even without calibration it is the most accurate app I've tried with my lights.

Thanks for those answers guys, really appreciate the input. Thanks for the info on the apps I didn’t realise they were available and after downloading a few and averaging the same ppfd (which is important as I’m running a 2x2) I have to give this one to GrowCN for in my opinion…a valuable bit of information everybody needs in on!

Leave your light at 25% and hang it 12 inches from the edge of the pots. When your first set of leaves start to reach out, go to 35-40% and hang it 16 inches instead of twelve. When your nodes start vegging out and reaching up and out, put her at 45-50 and veg her that way at 16 inches till Pre flower. As soon as flower starts put her at 65-70 percent at 25 inches above canopy and don’t go any higher, it’ll cause heat stress and light burn. I have that light and it took me a while to figure it out. Even though it’s the 1500 don’t let people make you think it’s not worth anything. I have light stressed and burned many buds in a 4 x 4 at 80% with it so technically you only need to put it at 75% and it would be optimal in a 4 x 4 for two plants easy. Good luck and grow on. Hope this helps.

I agree with growcn. The ppfd meter is well worth the free download. And after calibration, it works pretty darn good.

24 inches for seedlings, veg 18-24 inches and flowering 12-18 inches. As for brightness, I have always run at 100% and with both the veg and bloom lights switched on, from day one until harvest. Your 150 watt light will not produce too much light that the plants won't be able to handle it. Hope this helps, Organoman.
