Near Schwazz Week 6 - Autoflower

Hydronaut
Hydronautstarted grow question 2 years ago
My plant grew massively the first 4 weeks, and leaves became jammed regardless of my training techniques. A medium defoliation, turned into a massacre! Growth slowed last two days - almost up to speed again. What will come of a near "Schwazz" in early week 6 (auto), in the end?

That's not necessarily true what organoman said below. As long as the plant is healthy, Taking off some excess foliage and small budsites is good for the plant and the end result. Pulling off dead or dying leaves and lower down leaves actually makes more sugars and nutrients available to the plant and causes a mild stress response which strengthens and send food to the other branches. It should also be mentioned that this should only be done before and after the flowering stretch, avoid during stretch period can stunt growth. šŸŒ±šŸ‘

Removing healthy leaves and then forcing your plants to grow new ones always seems like a weird concept to me (what a waste of effort for the plant!). Your plants need every healthy green leaf that they have, to make the energy they need to grow their biggest and fastest. Just remember - maximum amount of healthy leaves = maximum energy production = maximum growth and size.

@OuterBanks in your case I think it was probably a good idea to remove a lot of the excess leaves now that it's coming back to full power concentrate on giving your plant/s all of the nutritional needs

When you need to do, you need, no matter sometimes even time or all rules. Have many rules ,broke most of them in special cases ... My last auto I even transplanted on week 15, just had to. Ended up 240 g in soil ... Some plants or even grows need special tactics, just you have to know what when and why. All the Best !

You never know man.. thereā€™s so many variables to account for. Thatā€™s why thereā€™s so much contradictory information out there on so many canna techniques. Defoliation works! Defoliation is the stupidest thing ever and will stunt your plants and ruin them! It goes on and on across just about every subject you can imagine. Not a single person here can give you an absolute answer of how your plant will end up.. itā€™s all speculation and in the end will come down to a multitude of factors as I mentioned at the beginning. I find some phenos of autoflowers are such lateral branching growers, it turns into a crazy mess regardless of what you do. They look happy and healthy so just ride it out man..

If it got a little stunted then it was a bit too much, but that's ok. Best thing you can do is keep doing what your doing for its environment, feeding, lighting, ect. Over all the plants look very healthy and in great shape. It just needs some time. No doubt this plant will be a winner if you keep up the care. Best of Luck and Happy Growing
