Need a quick answer? Majority of Defo (and pruning) to be done 1-2 weeks before flower. Defo does cause stress and it's better to stress her in Veg where she can recover quicker then in flower when she stops vegetative growth. It can stress her out much more if done in flower, but is still ok. Before flower, take whatever you feel you need too. Won't hurt her. Do so just before or after a feed so she can recover from that lite stress. In flower, you may certainly defo, but I would not go hog-wild and limit the amount of stress's I'm putting on the girls. They're not technically 'growing' anymore and can have a hard time bouncing back from any amount of stress in mid-late flower. Early flower, during stretch, they're still growing and can still recover pretty quick. If you see you missed a lot of DEFO in veg that you didn't take, you can do this within the first two weeks of flower when she is still growing/stretching and will be able to recover from the cuts. Cheers my friend. Good luck and hit me up in PM if you feel I can help you with anything else.😉👍

Hi Shagrath Defoliation isn’t for everyone in all setups. It should only be used in specific situations. If you do defoliation the wrong way it will hurt your plant and reduce your yields. As one example, defoliation doesn’t appear to be effective at significantly increasing yields for outdoor plants. But for indoor growers, cannabis defoliation done right results in larger yields. Suggestion Just before switch to 12/12 – After defoliation You start by removing the biggest fan leaves, especially any that were hand-sized and bigger. Some growers like to defoliate the bottom 20% of the plant at this stage. Make sure not to disturb bud sites, and always leave enough leaf cover that you still can’t really see through the plant very well. The plant needs a table of leaves to power the growth and stretch the way we want in the next few weeks! I think it’s common to go overboard at this stage, so I recommend taking a few less leaves than you think. 3 weeks after you switch to 12/12 – Do a Second Defoliation Plant started growing buds, and re-leafed itself in that time! At this point You only taking Down the biggest fan leaves, making sure not to disturb the growing buds. Again, you still shouldn’t be able to see through the plant very well after you’re done, your plants need leaves to fattening the buds. Nothing else needs to be done after this point. Hope this helps and good luck with your grow.
