What is the highest DLI (Daily Light Interval) that newly sprouted Cannabis plants can take for the first month after sprouting?

Also, is there any benefit to having more than 18 hours of light a day? Thanks

I don’t recommend going more than your 18 hours.. as far as and exact DLI, I’ve never calculated it for seedlings. Just try to keep things around 250-300 which would be like 15-20 DLI I believe at 18 hours.. maybe push up to 20 if ya like but I think it’s crucial to have a dark period. I also notice (and it could be circumstantial/genetics) but when you have a significant jump in lights on hours and switch to 12/12.. the more difference between the two cycles seems to cause more stretch. For example - going from 20/4 to 12/12 seems to stretch more than 16/8 to 12/12. Just my experience.. Good luck! White widow from ILGM should be a great first grow, I’ve grown about a dozen of their strains

Thank you for your responses, all. Interesting points, @Ezzjaybruh, about more stretch going from 20 to 12 compared to 18 to 12 light hours. I think I will do 18/6. By the way, is 16/8 safe for veg? I heard 18 is the minimum to make sure it doesn't flower or go herm. I've adjusted my two lights to be at 50% power so it is 327 PPFD at seedling height, which at 18/6 light schedule is 21.2 DLI. I really want to drive the light with these plants for yield and quality.

More than 18 hrs of light? well if your talking going up to 20 hrs a day then its 2 hrs extra a day X 7 = 14 hrs of extra light per week, You can knock a few (3-4) days off the veg time if you do this and get the same results if your time poor but generally speaking its not worth the extra power bills and work running 24 hrs in veg unless you really know what your doing and have your set up dialed in. If you have the time then go with 18 or 20 k.

So you’re talking the first month tho, I’d aim for around 15-20 for first 10 days, 20-25 next 10 days, and around 30 last 10 days.. They can take much more towards the end of that first month..

@esotaro run them at 24 hrs a day if that is what you wanna do then the plants will adapt I personally prefer to let both the plants and my equipment a bit of a break so prefer either 18/6 or 20/4

For seedlings, a DLI of 8-12 is ok. I'm sure you can convert that into retaliative hang height for your LED's. typicality 18/6 is a good standard for veg cycles. seedlings 25-30" away all depends on your PPFD output on your lights. stacking two side by side will create hot spots, so keep an eye on that. Best of Luck and Happy Growing.

Pushing plants and trying to constantly drive bigger results in people pushing plants too far sometimes. The dark allows the plants to actually recover, and there are a bunch of process that still have to happen during these dark periods, like gas exchanges. 2-3 hours of dark, are only reasonable if you want to continue a Cycle. Straight light for 24/7 or close to it is more of an assault
