The pistils of the older of the two pants are starting to darken and the buds are fattening up and getting sticky. how far off harvest do they look? Should i start flushing the plant?

Well look at ratio of orange hairs to non orange you want at least 50-70% orange to get that good high couch lock...if you can go by the tricohmes man but you need a magnifying glass at 60-100x or a jewels loupe at the same strength so you can see if there cloudy or milky or amber need that tool to better tell if your girls are getting close ..They look a little weird those girls but they seem like they should be good to flush soon they look about ready ...goodluck

I'm a little confused.. Your plant looked weeks away from harvest yet you are hanging it already when buds have not even formed?
And the other plant is at least two weeks away, at least!
You need to look for the first signs.
1.buds have began to slow down growth, no new budlets forming.
2. Pistols are not producing any more white ones
3.pistils are turning brown with maturity and ripening.
4. Leaves may start to change colour to yellow or purple or start to fall off.
5.trichomes with a magnifying glass are all cloudy, some are turning Amber (it's most people's desired harvest window)
6.smell is strong and pungent (not always, depends on strain and grow environment)
