Can't stop my pH from raising in my first dwc. Please help. I've took apart and clean with rubbing alcohol. Also using distilled water. I have the bubble boy system 3.5 gallon with 4inch air stone. I've also added another 4in air stone to see if that helps, but nah. So please

When I first change my solution it has a ph jump up till stabilizes. Then I check twice a day. Usually having a good mix In solution will buffer itself. From my experience I have to run a higher tds then most with my nutes to get the more stable dialed in amount. Then I have a slow increase in ph closer I get. My biggest issue was keeping solution sterile avoiding root rot. Then keeping water cooler. 62 F is ideal temp. The bubbles add oxygen to water not co2. Roots need air, and oxygen. So only keep root tips in water as well.

Prepare your water 24 hours in advance to let the natural ph up drift to settle. ph it to 5.6 or 5.7.. Always let your water sit for 24 hours before mixing your nutrients and bring the solution to your desired ph. Should be much more stable then

With plants that size you cant put enough nutrients in it to buffer the ph regardless of your nutrient brand. The first week or so it's normal for the ph to rise until you up your nutrient dose. I have tried a lot of nutrients and the only one I have found that will run stable for weeks is the maxigro and maxibloom. The ghe flora trio runs pretty stable too. My ph always climbs the first week but after I up my nutrients to .25tsp it runs stable from there on. Another good thing to do in hydro is scoop out about couple cups of your water and set aside when doing a water change. Then add that back to your reservoir when you refill it. It keeps the good bacteria colony going in your reservoir.

Sounds like "pH perfect" chemists need to go back to school. check for slime and microbial growth.. clean... ensure it isn't caused by that type of thing. rinse out any chemicals used to clean... very well. great thing about dwc is you can effective fix the pH with a drain and re-fill. Keep an eye on it... if it continues, i'd suggest a different 'hydro' nute line. i've seen someone in past complain about this brand's inability to maintain pH, but i have no personal use. There are other factors to rule out, and i hope that is the case for you.... (that it's "something" else) So, maybe the nutes aren't buffered well despite their marketing and namesake... if no microbial growth, this becomes very likely. A properly buffered product will not swing so easily.. proof is in the pudding. airstones oxygenate as well as dissolve co2 into solution, which should lower pH nominally as opposed to raising it. so, whatever is occurring is overcoming that too.
