When to put seedlings under LED light and for how many hours a day?

I have three autoflowers becoming seedlings. I put them under LED light for 16 hours a day. Is that too soon? Days of sunlight is already diminishing.

gottagrowsometime i like the name drgreenthumbs gave you. fuckface was it :) it suits you. dont be discouraged i’m sure you can cheat your way back into the contest. i just like to win that one because i dont respect you and i think most of your answers are shit and unintelligable babblings of a newbie who thinks he is a master or something. i asked you before and asking you again, have you ever grown anything besides cannabis in your life? keep overfeeding and flushing your otherwise chemical smelling nasty buds gottagrowsometime and dont preach shit you dont do. the norm is not 18/6 its 20/4. hey i love your diaries i go there when i wanna see a failing grower cramming 14 bottles down a plants throat and doing wholsesales for the same nutrient company. i have my laugh and move on :)

And don't say something like did you ever hear of timers ye. I have em but I'm running lots of dif lights and I'm short 1 timer and depending on how hot it is sometimes I let my dark period run a little longer or shoter depending. They are autos so if you are having trouble with temps I've seen ppl running a 5-1 or whatever suits your growing needs. And another thing. How about you stop trolling my diaries and put all these diaries and grows you talk about in the comments section about being where your needed. Some1 thinks very highly of themselves. How hard is it to put up these grow. No longer then you take trolling my diaries no doubt. Get a life and get on with your "many grows". Good luck with your 1st grow pal. Sorry bout going back and forward on your Q.

Omg. You are a serious muppet. Y the hell are you so put out that I'm behind you. Seriously bro. I'll stop answering Q if this means so much to you. I meant, the norm is 18-6 ok. And y I say 20 is sometimes my plants only get 18-6 sometime they get more they are autos. All I meant was an 18-6 as opposed to 16hrs as he was putting up that more light is better So please, stop with the trolling, dogging my diaries and how about liken something if you are always watching me. Gosh all this trouble for 1st place gosh man. Anyways, good luck.

They definitely need to be under lights like NOW... I grow all my autos under lights 24/7 although you WILL hear from some who believe they need a rest period... mine do not react negatively to that at all. Autos will actually grow no matter what light schedule you have them on... but they perform best under 18/6 and above. The biggest problem I see is your soil looks absolutely TOO wet and you may be causing them to rot or "damp off" .... seedlings this size have a miniscule root structure and overwatering will literally cause them to drown - let them dry out completely before doing anything else to them (additional hours of light will help as will a gentle fan which will also strengthen their stem). Watering something this size/age should only be done by misting the soil keeping is just moist. Adding to that problem, you've got them in what looks like clay or plastic pots which don't allow a lot of oxygen to get to the roots... hopefully the pots have a drainage hole! Good luck!

No its best to have light on them right away. They will stretch excessively if you don't. Your medium look's extremely wet. You only want to water a little so that oxygen can get to the roots. I would hold off watering until it is dry 1 knuckle below the surface. With the size of pot and amount of water you have you might not even need to water until you transplant. Like below said you will want to add perlite to your mix when you do transplant. Good luck and Happy Growing

hahah so gottagrowsometime if 18/6 is the best why are you using a 20/4 schedule in your every single grow diary then lol oh i see you give false advice just to contradict me at this point i guess :) op 20/4 is the best schedule and your soil is very extremely heavy so be very careful and definitely add 30%+ perlite when uppoting. i’d personally even switch to a completely different substrate with a peat base like promix or biobizz/plagron/canna or other. for now just wait until they get significantly lighter because you dont want to mess with roots of seedlings. and how much light youre gonna give dependens on your grow area and the fixture and its components. i’d just find a par map for your lights and shoot for 150-200umol at this point of development. manufacturers usually post par maps on their sites. check those out

Idk what type of mix of soil that is. It looks very dark. Is that compost or something, maybe supersoil? Idk if that's going to be too rich, but I'm sure it'll be fine, just give water, and enzymes. Anyways to your Question. You want the light on as soon as your seeds are up. So they don't stretch. I turn mine on no later than 24hrs after planting so there's no excess stretching. You can keep the light on now as long as you want, (meaning the set light timing you want to grow your autos, most best grow from 18-6 from seed to harvest) Just keep your light at a distance 45-60 cm 45 is the norm and 50- 65% is fine if you running with a 1-300watt light for the 1st week and then you can bump that up to 80 and I like to keep the 100% for pre flower and then move your light to 30cm or even closer if your light permits. Good luck pal.

yeah you want your plants to start under lights because theyll stretch excessively without proper lighting which they are doing atm. i’d start them off with 20hrs and keep that schedule until harvest. also yout medium lacks aeration when you up pot definitely add at least 30% perlite because theyll have root issues without proper aeration. and be careful about your watering regimen until you do because that soil looks heavy so wait until pots get significantly lighter before each time you water.
