GrowCNanswered grow question 3y ago I would NOT even consider CO2 for a first grow. Using it it implies you are pushing the plants HARD. You really need the right equipment, setup, experience and technique... again, not a beginner process. But, it's your grow do what you want. I would not expect your yield to offset the cost of the equipment and gas.
Every "home" cheap CO2 generation system I've seen looks like a total waste of money. I'm a long time brewer and know the amount of CO2 produced by fermentation and that is not going to generate a useful amount unless you brew at the barrel level and even then you need to keep the active phase of fermentation going for weeks on end which is no easy task. Chemical reactions can also produce CO2 but again you need a lot to manufacture the amount of gas you need. To be effective you need a sealed environment so no vent fans to help control temperature. I also think you need compressed gas cylinders, a regulator and a CO2 gas monitor at the minimum for a manually operated system.
