The shortest answer is - it depends. I've seen different people use the term lst to mean drastically different things. For myself, I aim to create the bend in the main stem (actually, more of an arc) above the 3rd node so I wait until the 5th node has begun (can just distinguish the leaves). Only the top inch or two of a stem is flexible enough to manipulate, GENTLY. If you look at my journal at week 3 you will see photos right after the first training wires are put in place. The next couple of weeks are spent keeping the main stem as level as possible. As branches catch up, they are trained to the same height. The longest are guided to the edge of the pot so the shorter ones are left in the center. I can usually maintain a plant height of 3 to 4 inches to the edge of the pot, which is about when flowering is ready to take off, so I let them turn upwards then. But this is MY definition of lst, others will have divergent processes with different results. What works for you is what's right for you. And experimentation is how we all learn things. Good luck.

Greetings rickylott23! So let me start by saying it looks great, well done getting it to this stage. Personally I would give it another week and tie it down. If you would like to see how I do it...better than blathering on here.. feel free to check my diaries all my grows are LST dominant. I know, I've only been here a week but I've been an organic medicinal grower for 30+ years so there's a wee bit of knowledge in the old noggin *taps head* * makes hollow sound*. I really hope that helps! Sticky Buds!

Your diary isn't even telling us how tall they are but from the look of the photos, I would wait a little bit longer to start the LST... let it get taller and stronger - maybe start it next week. It also depends on what kind of shape you're going to try to achieve... I personally do not try to get all the colas to be the same height because I just don't have the room in my tent to do so and I want the ability to move the pots out of the tent if needed... so my LST consists of just trying to get the lower bud sites out away from the main stem and growing in the shape of a Christmas tree so my LST doesn't start until they're about 4 weeks old... Could I get a bigger yield if I did it the other way? Probably... Does it matter to me? Not at all... Good luck!

You can start LST Now! The meaning if LST is to keep buds on the same height so that they will all get the same amount of light from your lamp and for that all grow into big buds! So what you want to do is bending the higher branches down till the same level as the rest. Keep doing this till they all reached the same height and try to keep them on the same height till they stop stretching 3 weeks after they start flowering. You can use soft wire and pull them down gently. Be carefull that you do not break any branches. When you feel reaistance do not pull further just wait a day or 2 and then try it again. You want to do LST early so you can start NOW!!! After the plants go into flowering the branches become more woodlike so then you can not train them that good anymore. Happy Growing! 😋
