Its the larvae of the Fungus Gnat. Ihave them in every grow... its like B4RNS says, a sign of living soil. Iam fighting them with Predators. I am using Nematodes. You can order Predators and just give them into your watr and they spread and eat up all fungus gnats larvaes. As i tod you i hav them in every grow , so i fight them regulary. After a transplant i give nematodes in my waterings and they kill the larvaes. If some survivie icatch them with yellowstickers. You can put fine quartz sand on the layer of your pots. The sand is so sharp for the gnats that they get killed if they try to get through it. Same to diamantous earth. If you put quartz sand as layer, you may water your girls from the bottom. To me it dos not work wth sand or other stuff, because i use airpots so i go with a combination of yellowstickers and predators. In your case its to later for predators( they need a few weeks to grow) so i would go with yellostickers to rduce them if they developed from larvae to flies.

@Wsummers You have fungal gnats and they are almost impossible to erdicate unless you can add some beneficial nematodes into the soil or coco medium. these can be found at most nurseries if you ask for them. Also you can add a fine layer of diatomacous earth across the surface of the grow container to deter them from hatching but overall the nematodes are the best option as they feed on the larvae before they can hatch. I reccomend sanitising your grow space after harvest and dumping any used medium into your garden outside ( great way to recycle coco) I gave up using coco in my indoor grows awhile back as it seems to be more of a headache than its worth especially when the quality of the product seems to change from grow to grow and suppliers . I use either hydroponics or straight perlite with a run to waste system.

Fungus gnats. It isn’t really a problem, and it is a sign that your soil is alive ! No worries you’re plants will be harvested before the invasion gets really annoying ! But in the case you really wanna get rid of them , you just need to throw some Diatomaceous earth on top of the soil, it’s a 100% Organic and very cheap to buy .

My best bet is fungus gnats have layed eggs in your soil. The eggs hatched & now they are fungus gnat larvae which are getting carried away when you flood and drain your medium. You can look on google to see different methods organic pesticide solutions that you can use to flush your soil with & it should kill them and not the plants. Try letting your soil dry out more between watering & reduce relative humidity in the room. If you have not seen any small black flying critters in your grow space then it is possible you have purchased contaminated soil or where your soil is stored is contaminated. Really take a closer look next time you see one, If the larvae have a black tip on one side and legless white body, it is most likely fungus gnat larvae. Gnats love to lay their eggs in potting soil. Happy growing. Hope this helps. -Alejangrow😁👍
