it will help.. prolly better with led strips or soemthing diy, but it'll shine on things that don't get enough light so it will help in those areas.
Anything light not hitting top of leaves will be attenuated. The chlorophyl is significantly less concentrated and deeper in the tissue from that angle. Light that hits under the leaves is less effective than light that hits top of leaves... technically any green surface on plant is capable of photosynthesis, but this ain't a palo verde tree, either (spelling?).
So, becareful of adding too much to canopy, and try best to hit tops of leaves where you can... it'll be less efficient use of watts, but if the results warrant the extra electricity, can't argue with it. trial and error...
