All you do mate is make an even canopy as you can. And do mirror growing.
So, anything on one node, must be done on the opposite side of that same set of nodes. So the V you have in pic 2, where 2 new nodes come from. Why don't you start bending them (facing them, the right you LST right and vice versa.
The goal is an even distribution of energy throughout your maniline..
And, that's more of a manifold. With mainlines you top each end at the start, and then you top the 2 sides that are left from the 1st topping and you do that again. Building like a wall on each side of either straight growing upwards nodes, or Shaped to your design.
