i seem to be getting just plenty leaf growth covering bud can i defoliate still at this time so late in ?

It has a very high leaf-calyx ratio. Once pre flower is over. There's nothing stopping you. Snipping them sugars. With a good bud trimmers you should be able to get underneath the bud and take them sugars out. Fully agree with CS also. There's many environmental conditions that can cause excess leaf growth, DLI is something that is very important, (environmental). Also if you haven't been doing any defol throughout the grow. Then she would of started with mainly fans. And they just got swollen out by calyxs. She does need a trim. And she's very green. I find when overfed with N and very green like that. The sugar leafs are always in excess so also could be a factor.

could be genetics, could be a sign you need more intense light or more hours of existing light... consult a DLI table.

i'd leave it alone until harvest. leaves power growth. defo is to avoid risk of mildew and overly congested areas ... it's not an OCD thing. have a reason to do it. don't just do it because ppl repeat that phrase a lot.
