Should I do partial harvest?

tbilwin
tbilwinstarted grow question 4 months ago
Now I see that the upper buds are ready for harvest. However, closer to the soil, there are many buds that are not yet ripe. Is it worth doing a partial harvest and letting all the buds ripen, or should I harvest them all at once, or just discard them?

You should not harvest yet. I have the impression that you're looking at the trichomes on the leaves and not in the flowers. As for a partial harvest, don't bother with that, the plant will be too stressed by the pruning and you'll be wasting energy on buds that are too small. However, for your next crop, remember to prune all the little flowers at the bottom of the plant that won't give a great yield. This will allow the plant to concentrate its energy on the big flowers at the top.

Maybe you could : shine a light from the side! It means you get the light from the top to the bottom. In two weeks, it may be ready.

A partial harvest can be done. I do it a lot. But you aren't ready for that and I also think it may be too early for just bud candy (diary states this). I don't grow in soil though. You still have what seems like a lot of white pistils. I do see you have a loupe. This is the best way. When no more clear left and always look at different buds of different maturity. Harvest when majority is of your liking. As said already don't go by trichomes on leaves they Ripen way earlier

I try not to do this. I wait until the majority is ripe and go from there. Doing a partial harvest will send the plant into shock and it may not even ripen the others till later after its recovered, then you have the task of burping and curing two parts of the same plant on different schedules. Just wait till most of the plant is read and do the chop all at once. Good Luck!

The general ratio for correct bud development is rbg 1:2:1 Red n blue do not penetrate the canopy very far, 1 or 2 leaf at most. Green on the other hand mostly penetrates and scatters 5,6,7 layers. If you add blue and red supplements from the lower sides, buds will be almost as good as top ones. Radiation accelerates cycles. No point in even growing green larf nuggets.

She is not ready to harvest yet. You have at least two weeks left Do not believe the grow times for seeds, your plant has a mind of her own

You can harvest the main cola first if you want. Doing a partial harvest isn't going to hurt anything or "shock out" your plant or whatever lol. One of the very first plants I ever harvested I did that way then went on to reveg the plant after finishing harvest and I used it as a mother plant for several years....even though most of the "internet experts" assured me it would never work or the plant would somehow be genetically degraded. Moral of this story....it's really hard to screw this up....don't be afraid to try stuff for yourself. Enjoy the fruits of your labors.

In my experience, partial harvests never work. Just harvest all at once and accept it as it is. Smaller immuture buds are great to give away or use at parties where no one really cares because they are drunk anyhow. Removing large parts of a plant (partial harvesting) causes a huge metabolic shock to the plant, meaning it never fully recovers and/or has enough health/vigor/energy left to continue ripening anything left over, properly. Second pick buds never have the same quality as buds harvested all at once, even though they may seem a bit immature, in my experience.
