once a gnat is matured and flying around, they don't eat. The problem is the larva and the damage they cause to the roots. Get "Bti" product in your region, if it exists. sticky traps for adults. In future, use Bti preemptively and avoid the problem before it starts. if you see bite marks with honeydew around the damage, that's something else. Bti will only help with larva in the medium. Mosquito Bits is the brand name in my area.. but the active ingredient is what matters, not the brand. It's a bacteria that's been used on world food crops for over a century so you know it is safe. Since it's a top dress or somethign you toss in the reservoir, you can use in vege or flower with no problems. If you have honeydew around edges of the bit marks that is something different. May need a pyrethine - kills on contact and can take care of most pests. Do not spray on flower, of course. You'll need a pesticide of some sort for that sort of issue.

I wouldn't chop anything early unless it's affecting your buds. Don't stress leaf damage late stages, whatever maybe causing it- doubt it's "gnat marks" as the flies themselves are harmless. Assuming the latest photos in your diary are recent I'd say you got a good two weeks at least before it's ready.

1stly gnats live in the soil. They don't eat or harm leafs Yellow sticky traps are great for catching the males. And killing the cycle. A key part of it. The larva (gnats) need to kilt.. only way is to starve them. Dry top soil and gnats you see walking will turn into flyers the yellow traps catch them and you kill and newly layed larva by 2-3 day old flyers. Gnats in the soil can also be caught with yellow tape but, really most will only touch above the surface a small part of their lives they live under wet moist soil. And flyers lay eggs in that (the soil) its a cycle. Larva, gnats & flyers. All require different methods to fully rid yourself of the issue. Only a very large infestation will harm your plants.

If you're referring to fungus gnats, just put a sticky trap on the soil, see if any gnats get stuck and wait it out until harvest. You're far enough in the grow that athe gnat larvae likely won't get to your roots. For a preventative measure, try watering with a mosquito bites tea if you trap a bunch of gnats

If you had gnats you should be able to see them. Check under a few leaves and give the plant a little shake and if there are any gnats they should appear.
