How much to trim my bush?

DickJones
DickJonesstarted grow question 10 months ago
I've created a fairly flat canopy but I have all this new growth a few nodes down from the top that just is not getting any light. I am not sure if I should leave it since its fairly close to the top or remove it.

because it is so tightly configured, you probably want to remove a lot of lower axilla. Otherwise it'll just grow into itself and be a giant disease vector. If you want that many vertical colas, you need to spread it out more. After flip (or an auto entering flower), they grow a significant amount more.. neeed to imagine how much growth will occur over 4 weeks, which only increases in speed over time.. exponential growth rate vs linear growth rate (some limitations/ceilings for that but at this point, true still as long as not overgrown for pot and light). you don't want more than 2-3 colas per sq ft... all it does is make smaller, larfier buds a higher proportion of total flower mass. too many mouths. Your light and local environment can support good growth of X grams per sq ft. More colas than necessary won't improve yield.. it'll just make a larger percentage shittier buds. the weight will be similar. Light = weight. how you shape the plant will impact distribution. (common sense - too few colas will not maximize yield, but we are looking at opposite end of spectrum, here).

fwiw, i still maek the mistake of too many colas per sq ft... if that makes you feel better, lol.. easy to do.. Sometimes it is hard to trust that what you see will be large enough 4 weeks later. Some plants may not fill out as well as others etc... rather err on a couple plants having a few too many than a plant that can't fill its area of responsibility.

That's quite personal, I like to do a good bottom cleaning before flowering, you should have made a wider lst instead of taller. Good smokes😤😤😤
