Now a good time to defoliate?

Been fighting with myself to defoliate or not. This is my first grow, so I’d almost like to try it naturally to have something to show improvement from on later grows, but wow is it getting dense under there.

Definetly need it for airflow or leaves will start sweating and producing condensation on them.....I went mental on my first scrog grow 8 plants 4 x 4 cut every fan leaf of week 1 and 3 of flower stretch basically just left top 2 leaves on every branch and within 5 days it looked better than ever probably stunts growth a day or 2 but its worth it for airflow and light in the long run almost forms a blanket of leaves scrog...don't go crazy if your worried just do bit by bit..your plants are super healthy so won't be an issue for instance I filled two carrier bags full of fan leaves from 1 grow and got 14 oz from 4 x 4 setup 8 plants in coco 600 watt hps all dense buds Barney's farm genetics which ain't bad would of hit 16-17 if I'd of stuck few more plants in and filled the space

P1 looks good. Keep her as is. P3 - trim off lower leaves and sucker branches. Or you can keep them. This way you will see that sucker branches doesn't produce. And next time, trimming will be instinctive.

Don't take too much risk , if a leaf is blocking light to the lower buds/branches/bud sites you can pluck it away. Unless you've read a complet tutorial about defoliation I do not recommend you to try a heavy one. You'll be more confortable with it during the next run

For me it isna case of trying to time it too. Around flip time , I will do a major defol of all the scrub and lower fans. After the stretch at day 21 , I again do a defol but not as aggressive but to open up flowering sites more. Buds do not photosynthesis so you need to leave enough feeder leaves as is possible but try tucking them behind/under other productive sites. You will soon get the idea if you try it. they re-leaf very quickly

Its a good Time to take away shoots , who are to small, and cleaning the "feet" of the Girl. If Flowers shoe up more clearly you can pick away some leaves who stop airflow, or block the Light. Best done until 4th week of flower

I agree, definitely do it in phases though. You dont want to put unnecessary stress on the plant. I usually defoliate through out veg, I keep the larger fans till one week before I send to flower then I clip them off, the last is after the 3rd or 4th week of flower, I remove the excess to allow light penetration and air flow. I am not much of defoliating plants but in your case I think you should do defoliation. the plants are very close to each other and need air circulation also for the light to catch everything under the net

@ShiftyGaijin Hi mate I'm not a fan of unecessary defoliation either but in your case everything under the net will soon be covered by buds hopefully so doing a good cleanup underneathe will actually benefit your plants by allowing a lot more air flow in and around your buds Good luck mate Nice grow 👍
