Spidermites do not dwell or hangout in the soil on their own. they may fall down into it, but that's not where they like to be. You will find them on the backside of the leaves and they make mini white/yellow dots all over the leaves they are feeding on. think sprinkle of iceing sugar.
Don't think you have anything to worry about, If they are bothering you, you can nuke em with some pesticides that hit mites and other 8 legged creatures. I find these mites common in my outdoor grows only seen them on a few indoor ones.
