What type of soil should I use to start my seeds with? I have some potting mix and seed starting soil. Does it matter?

Light mix is supposed to be best. Personally I always start them on regular soil prefertilized soil with no problems.

I use either Espoma seedling soil, or FoxFarm Light Warrior. They both give you everything a seedling needs to germinate and feed, before putting in perm soil. Try not to use regular soil, as it may be too rich/hot for the seed/seedling. IMO, Fox Farm Ocean Forest is like acid to a seed. What you may consider, and I do this for my permanent soil, is mix 3:1 FF OF and Light Warrior. It helps buffer the soil a little bit, while the seedling grows out into vegetative state, and it opens the soil up a little more, to reduce soil compaction (aids in drainage), during the full grow. TIP: Most quality soils have enough micronutrients, to eliminate any need for feeding, for at least 30 days of active growing.

Hi @Greeneyedmoon At the beginning of the plant's life, a light mix soil should be used to control better the dosage of liquid nuts during the first weeks, but you can also start with a well-fertilized soil, on average the well-fertilized soils with quality make the plant withstand and grow well the first 3/4 weeks without giving liquid nuts, just root stimulator. good luck mate 👍
