Many claim convenience, but then they grow photo fems not autos...so they're willing to forego some convenience to not grow mids, but not enough to steward the plant as a proper contributor. Folks talk about stability but they're talking about 'did I see an intersex site on my sample size of 2 and single run' not 'we had 24 partner facilities for a total of 2,000 sites for testing and we did 5 generations and 39 different tests which took 6 years and we are confident the genome is stable'. Those are different statements. The science that is coming out now would show that we vastly underestimated the size of the male chromosome. Mapping is being done now with the genome (and it is popping off so so so so so hard that in the US it costs a few hundred bucks now for a genome mapping of a cut) that we are gonna REALLY soon be able to point to exactly where in the male chromosome things are being taken from. In other words, feminized seeds are not whole. They do not contain a large part of their genetic encoding. Since we don't know what that missing piece is yet, you have to vote for reg seeds.

If you plan on growing this plant out for generations "breeding it" and never anything else, Reg. If you want to grow it once and see how it goes, or like convience and not wasting your money/time, Fem. Others will argue they are stronger and this or that but that's really not the case. Making fem seed has been stabilized. You could grow 2-3x times more reg seeds and waste money to get as many females from fem seed and then cull the rest, but its a lot of effort with little payoff unless you know for a fact you are going to be growing it for a long time. Leave that work to the breeders and just get clones at that point. Reg seed is also not guaranteed to be a good plant and not hemri or be triple A quality, its prone to all the same issues as fem seed. so save yourself some time and just get fem. Before fem seed was a thing people used to do a bunch of dumb shit to turn the sex of the plant. I know one guy who would grind their girlfriends contraception/birth control pills into the soil saying it made more seeds turn female if they where reg, meanwhile the sex of the plant is determined long before the seed is harvested. So stupid ppl have being doing lots and saying lots of shit. trust the facts from peer reviewed sources. One breeder compared their fem seed to clones and found they perform the same for hemri traits when growing in mass. on average 1 in 2000 plants showed hermi https://ucanr.edu/sites/default/files/2019-11/316187.pdf

Spending 3-4 months on growing a plant that then turns male is a pain. Feminised seeds are much more convenient.

Well with feminized seeds you know what you got and don’t have to start with a handful of seedlings to get that one female, like you would if they were regular seeds. Which one grows better or faster, a toss up really. Bottom line what are your goals with it? Breeding or smoking?

Sadly, convenience is king here. The amount of time and hassle saved makes feminized a better choice for me. Plant enough, cull the weak, i doubt it's much different than a batch of regs. I plant 200% of what i intend to grow, so the slow and defective don't make it to the 1-gallons. Then, another 3-4 are killed off before the final pot-up. If i could grow outside, it would be different. I wouldn't need all of the very large outdoor plants to be female to have a year's supply. Save a lot of electricity too. Keeping mother plants is a pita i don't enjoy. If i had 500-700 USD to waste on a used thermocycler and accompanying single-use lab-bits and solutions, i'd do my own gender testing at home... Anyone want to buy a 20T rosin press or a couple 650w high efficacy lights? If I could recoup previously wasted outlays, i could justify it. Heck, business opportunity. Labs charge ~20 a plant i think?

Rags are stronger, if you plan identify and propagate a particular strain that works for you it's the best choice Im the long run. Regular seeds are best growers . They're getting harder and harder to get. However, if you're just a hobby grower it probably doesn't matter much,
