LST will not damage an auto, you can even top (or FIM) it if you do it early enough.
My last diary (run #3) I had an auto that was FIM'ed and subject to LST, check it out.

1. Take rosin and seal.
2. Place into prepared water bath at 130F.
3. Bring water bath to 140F+ over the next 72 hours.
