Why does everyone brag about the wet weight of their plants? Like why are people even putting a whole wet plant stems and all on a scale? What does this prove? I feel dry weight of the actual buds is what’s important

S. it really doesn't make sense to weigh leaves, branches, and soil 😂. You should only weigh the clean, fresh flowers, and then when they're dry, then you...

I must following the wrong people, all I see is quality astonishment :) The way GD is set up is most likely why people add wet weight - Am I he only one who thinks GD needs to add a ''week'' for post harvest processing?

So the answer to “why report wet weight?” is apparently thermodynamics, carbon fixation, quantum limits and integrity. Maybe the real reason is simpler: "Baby Got Back" just flows even better if you add “wet.” Everyone loves big WET buds, right?

I’m with you 😄 Wet weight is mostly a curiosity unless you’re tracking your own wet-to-dry ratio. Comparing growers by wet weight is almost meaningless because one person weighs trimmed buds, another whole branches, and someone else basically puts a small tree on the scale. 😂 Fresh flowers contain a huge amount of water, and stems add even more useless weight. Dry, trimmed, properly cured flower weight is the number that actually tells you what the harvest produced.

The reason I do it is because of the ratio between wet and dry. Looking usually for 20-25% dry yeild

i see people measuring from the taint often (wet or dry), but i don't see people bragging about wet weight. When the dry weight isn't 1/4th to 1/5th of wet weight, you know something is corrupting the numbers - not necessarily with an intent to deceive.

Who's bragging about their wet weight? Quality and quantity can be mutually achieved with one plant btw dispute whats said below. Its not easy, but just because a plant yields more doe not dilute the entire plant.

First off, there is a huge concern about harvest weight. That is fine for distillate. At some point, you only care about how exotic your flower is coming out...and those extra terps and volatiles and supreme minor cannabinoid profiles eat out of your secondary metabolite budget. Not everything is the same density in there. So, there is A LOT of nuance to be had regarding QUALITY versus QUANTITY. Like obsession with gram/Watt made sense before LEDs but that isn't really the optimization point anymore, it is more about dialing back utility costs and letting the profile develop more naturally rather than be pushed to maximum production. Like a chile pepper...1000 peppers on a habenero plant is gonna make some trash ass habeneros if you wanted em spicy. One habenero on the entire same plant? Holy shiiiiiyut that is gonna be a competition pepper. If you are not comfortable doing post-harvest activities by esoteric experience and the nuance that brings, then you might find yourself mishandling buds in postharvest by doing things like weighing them wet so that you know when to stop drying. It should also be noted that this site for example, they push the desire for wet pictures. Go look at past contests. Finding a winning contest picture of finished flower is stupid exotic giga rare. Almost like not that many people actually pull crop.

Energy conversion above all.......... The % of which you can convert is your efficiency. Home growers can do 1-2%; the quantum hard ceiling is 5%. This is mostly due to the 9th cardinal rule of plant growth, which is the rate of carbon fixation and sequestration. No one can bypass the rate at which carbon is converted; this is what turns the growth line on a graph from exponential (straight) to an insurmountable linear (curve) with diminishing returns. Once you hit this wall, it's a quantum hard wall.................. Vast portions of growers don't understand that, and treat simple numbers exponentially. A grower cannot grow 1.3kg of dry bud with 1 plant in a 2x2; that's just a ridiculous notion............the LAW of THERMODYNAMICS does not allow it...........unless you cracked the quantum hard wall.................. Which apparently most of Grow Diaries users break every week and then some. Integrity has left the platform entirely. Along with morality. To genuinley make it over 2g/w is a ................true milestone and the only way to truly rank yourself among growers. Simply because there are so few capable of doing so without actively cheating or throwing a few extra grams. I know what it takes, and what it took me. Therefore, I know what it actually takes in the real world to increase ETR to such levels, but I digress unless I see someone talking of similar methods/conncepts and displaying in the environment to such a degree; then I know they are not close. Cause & effect. LOL silly goose, metabolism doesn't peak at 75F lol. I won't sit and let liars talk shit on my dime. Diminishing the hard work that was genuinely put in.
