Welcome to my Milkyway F1 Auto Diary "Topped Vs Untopped" sponsored by RQS.
Veg Days: Topped 29-35 Untopped 29-32
Both plants have been really good. Really easy growers. A bit surprised they haven't flipped yet. Thankful though. They've vegged really well. And there's a lot of good growth there. Nice nodes on both. Will make for nice bud sites that'll allow a lot of light to hit them. They've both responded well to the jungle juice trio & enzymes. They both took a good bit of shock. But they're strong gentics and recovery was quick and no flip, which is always a worry after shocking an auto. "They both had a really rough transplant, they were in a 4gal pot with Frosted Guava. Atlas was given to break down and broken roots and turn them into beneficial nutrition for 2 wks (4 feeds). Also, there was a lot of old roots, as I reused my light/coco mix from Biobizz "which they say is completely fine, that and they're inert. You just need something to turn dead growth into mycelium/beneficial nutrition.

pheno 2: 25.5cm 32nd Veg Day. Multiple defoliations 10-15% max, will apply LST this wk (edited: LST & Hard defoliation was done, not my best work. And, maybe I removed too much growth. Only time will tell. Hopefully she'll veg another few days before flipping. They're very close. This one was defoled a lot, especially through the past week. Only applied LST this wk & the last defoliation was done today (Veg Day 32). The 1st set of nodes, "which usually don't add up to much, were removed and a few shoots that wouldn't of amounted to much that were on the starts of the nodes, "closest to the main stem".

Pheno1 23.5cm 35th Veg Day, multiple defoliations. 10-15% max. Will apply LST this week. I reckon this will be her last few days of veg. (Edited: a good bit of defoliation done on this one. Did a good bit today, this will be the last of it before it flips. Applied her LST, was much harder to do than the Untopped 1, her top set of nodes had made 2 knuckles making it hard to bend the top. I'll see the LST take shape much more when they flip. Removed the few shoots that were deep inside the plant close to the stem on the nodes. Day 33 applied more defol making sure to take the fan leafs attached to new shoots that are just popping to halt there growth and making them "hopefully flip close to nodes making for colas and not buds
Heights, Defoliation & LST
Lights...P1000 for veg. 100% 45ish/cm away.
FC 3000 or Hopefully in a week r 2, they'll be under a FC4800 with increased co2 with full co2 kit in a much better 3x3 tent. Pref a DR90, will see how much all this co2 crap cost. I've placed both plants at the back of both corners. Hopefully this will even the ppfd for both plants.
Defol more taking fan leafs from nodes (the shoots that draw energy for them) i want to halt their growth and so when they flip. They'll be close to the nodes.
Added Terra Power La Calvera aka voodoo juice. "On my last few mls".
@Breadandbuds, Yeah, I mes them also. As my understanding where F1s were FF photos. They sent me something explaining what they mean. It's just a cross of less strains, even a more stable pheno. I think. I read it couple wks back lol, and my mind blank
My next thing is getting a veg tent sorted. I've got my old 4x4 still I've also got a ts1000 I just need the space lol. Only thing I'd need to buy to set it up would be a wee extractor.
@gottagrowsometime, that's my main reason for making the switch to fems this run, I've done auto runs I've been happy with got what i thought was a decent yield, but then I'd end up getting an ounce each from 3 that took 14 weeks also lol. I've germinated, gg sherbet, gg cookies and tropicana cookies, all 3 are the fast buds FFs. See how this one goes. I'll be adding the uv/ir light in soon also, just need to buy one first lol.
@Aldo90, yeah, a veggie tent is a must. In saying that. Soon, she'll be rocking a 300w or I might just add another 100w as my 100cm2 is flowering fems and is only running at barely 14hrs a day. Frosted G is already flipped. The p1000 puts out enough ppfd to finish her. But, not for the whole tent I'll need 2. Have to think on it. Will the yield of 4 autos be enough for the cost of running it. I'm not sure.
@NegotiatedBubble, caught about 15 on just 1. Thing is, did i catch them before they got a chance to lay any eggs. I'll know in a few days if my 4e investment paid off.
Is a good test iam doing to on Purple Pung OG, is fresh and good to know to understand how a plant respond to the topping and let know to other grower. If I were a breeder I would insert this indication on the response to the topping in the data sheet
@Breadandbuds, I fully agree with you. As some breeders autos do really well when topped, have to get it in and hopefully you'll get min another 2 weeks of veg. Fastbuds take well to a top. But 3 times I done it to dutch-passion and they turned out small.
Look forward to seeing the results. I just topped pheno 1, have to get her uppoted to her next pot. Have done it in a way, I can push my 2 hands down and cup it to pull it up. Hopefully won't be too much stress. Both will have to go through this. Gonna make it as even as I can. I know you can't get results , well results you can say for sure it'll work everytime. But, as these are meant to give a more equally grown crop. They are more or less in at the same stage, pheno 1&2 when you look bk over the days, they more or less match.
