When Mom died in 2020 before COVID, I was just diagnosed with cancer, 3 days later she died. The will stipulated that my sister get all the genealogy records. Mom spent over 30 years researching her genealogy from the early settlers back to Europe 1600s. Lots of paper. So I had treatment for a year, then surgery, along with multiple appointments every week. I've been going through stuff for over a year now. I continue going through boxes, and boxes, and more boxes. I have homestead documents from 1906. letters between family's that had the Spanish flu in 1914. WWI letters in 1918, letters discussing the impact off the stock market crash in 1931 and the ravages of the depression, letters between my grandfather and his brother discussing the numismatic reset in 1917. When Federal Reserve Notes were issued for the first time in 1917. Originally, these were backed by gold, and a note could be, at least in theory, exchanged for gold coin at a bank until 1933 when gold was confiscated from the general public.
