Heya Farmers, I had a lot of fun with last years competition, I have such a big Dutch Passion seed collection now! Still I couldn't pass up on the chance to grow Tangie with a bunch of other people, this is one of my favourite strains. I'm not the best at organics, so this diary will be a learning experience, I'm sure I will end up with some wonderful weed, this has never not been the case growing Dutch Passion for me. I used the float technique to germinate, I took a shot-glass of 1% hydrogen peroxide and let the seed float on top for 12 hours in a warm, dark cabin, after she opened up i soaked a rapid rooter and dropped her in there. 24 hours later we had a little seedling. I waited a week for the roots to start poking out of my rapid rooter and then transplanted her in a mix of Perlite, organic soil and worm castings, all locally sourced. hoping for no bugs, so far it's been smooth sailing. she's under some cheap shoplights until my tents open up, I find that seedlings tend to do better under 6500k t5 Leds than full spectrum grow lights anyway. Growth will be slow, as I might keep her root-bound until tents open up, this also allows us to get a feel for her stress resistance. Hope everyone enjoys the competition! Remember to have fun, your grow itself will be the biggest award.

Hi man, Your garden looks great despite the difficulties.๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒž About those fungus gnats: let the soil dry out because they like a moist environment so the larvae cannot hatch. The adult gnats you can just catch with those yellow sticky papers. Good luck man for the rest. I hope you get over it soon. Peace

@BelgianBudtender, SF nematodes are very effective against fungus gnats. In a organic grow

Hallo @BelgianBudtender, Unfortunately these gnats love organic material. I checked this spinosad you mentioned but I am afraid itโ€™s not organic so your crop wonโ€™t be bio anymore but if it helps to get rid of them I can totally understand your choice. However as an organic grower I am not recommending any chemicals(this is just my own oppinion). There is a natural way which can help if you are using a right dosage itโ€™s called: Neem olie. https://www.zamnesia.nl/wiet-kweken/351-neem-olie You can read on this site about it. I hope it helps buddy. Have a lovely day. Peace

@Qutro, I'm new to both organics and drip watering, I'm considering turning the system off for a bit and letting it all dry out, but I don't want to stress the plant more. I did end up getting some spinosad for some thrips i saw, there's not a lot of em but I want to be safe thanks!

@popcornsutton, yeah unfortunately the developer of the app favors iPhones, if you have a newer iphone (I'd say 11+) the app will measure pretty accurately, as long as you have the printer paper diffuser. I think android has to be calibrated/other developers provide presets for popular models like Samsung. I had my hands on my buddies apogee DLI meter, my iPhone 14 and Samsung S20 and compared the results, iPhone 14 and Apogee were within margin of error (it was 3 something ยตmols p/s off), the Samsung was way off in the triple digits, but I was able to calibrate it with the apogee to be just as effective, but I understand that point is moot not everyone has a 200$ sensor lying around. Edit: the accuracy of the iPhone ones do come at a one time purchase, Android is free but you get what you don't pay for.

@BelgianBudtender, just tried that app and its more of a guessing game. gonna stick to the ruler. thanks

@popcornsutton, I use Photone on my iPhone to just measure ppffd and have since ditched the ruler, I'll deffo keep it in mind next time

@DutchPassion_Official, Hey I am sorry I ended up updating it 1 day before the deadline, life got in the way and this was actually my last grow this year, on the plus side she had some time to cure and I've been enjoying her a bunch. I got almost half a kilo of weed from 1 tiny seed! Hope to start growing again soon, probably Strawberry Cough, I've had that one high on my list for a while and Dutch Passion never disappoints.

I really like your cloner. Can you send me info on it.
BelgianBudtender

@gottagrowsometime, it's one of those ultrasonic misters, like the ones you find in fog fairy fountains or halloween witch cauldrons. they're cheap I put it in an opaque food safe containers, added some holes for the foam clone collars, then just add water and air whilst keeping the roots out of the light, I use an old pc fan to supply a very small amount of fresh air to mix with the fog. It roots pretty fast. Once I see the first root appearing, I add phosphorous , in my experience it massively speeds up root growth.
