Introduction - Week 23|16 Summary -
Ensign's log, stardate 9609.48,
Another hot week in the grow room! Been hotter and more humid than a Cardassian sauna!
Since the humidity increase in the 4x4, the plants seem to be doing better.
Growth in the vegging 3x3 has been just impressive! Growth reached the light again so had to top once more. Had some minor soil senor issues, but got everything working again by the end of the week.
Next week plan to flip the flowering tent from 12/12 to 18/6 for the final weeks of flower.
About two weeks left before harvest! Onwards Ensign!

-----------------------------------
- [21:36]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent.
--- Still hot and humid in the garden, regardless, growing along nicely!
--- Leaf damage seems to be slowing down so I think the increased RH has been helping. With the higher humidity, there’s more potential for mold. Need to make sure the air is circulating.
--- The GGC2024 plant has stress damage but growing. Clearly she’s not a winner, but I’m still happy! I’m just hoping that she makes it to harvest.
- [21:38]: Checked down both fill tubes.
--- Both reservoirs were completely dry!

- [21:05]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent,
--- Looking green and happy! Growth is perky and I’m hyped for the next cycle!
--- I think I may need to top again soon.
- [21:11]: Took the total weight a #2 pheno.
--- She weighed 231.8g
--- It’s been 3 days since her last watering.
--- Time to water!
--- While on a scale,
--- Gently misted her straw mulch with distilled water.
--- Tried to keep the top growth dry.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [21:21]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 345.3g
--- There was no runoff.
--- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup.
--- Wow! She’s getting tall! Growing in a solo cup and is already over 2 feet tall!
--- Placed her back into the tent.
- [21:26]: Repeated this process for an original #2 pheno.
--- Misted until the saturated weighed was 344.9g
- [21:37]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water.
------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [22:37]: Repeated this process again for the original #2 pheno.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [22:36]: Hmm. While watering the girls in the tent, I noticed that the #4 soil sensor was malfunctioning. The light went solid red and would not turn off. The sensor also lost connection. Damnit Ensign!
--- In a feeble attempt to fix the sensor, removed it from the soil and placed it in a Ziploc bag with a few silica packs. Similar to the bag-of-rice method, I’m hoping the silica will draw out excess moisture from the unit (the malfunction occurred while watering). Will check back tomorrow.
--- Ordered a new one which should hopefully arrive soon!
--- Oh!
- [22:38]: Found the rubber caps!
--- While trying to troubleshoot the whole sensor failure issue, I tried reading the instruction manual (for light indicator issues). Well I couldn’t find any information about a solid light. But found the rubber caps! They were in the box under the cardboard insert (damnit Ensign).
--- I formally apologize to BuildASoil.
--- I thought the rubber caps were not included, but as usual, the error was mine.
--- As I wait for the replacement sensor, I covered the 3 uncovered sensors with the caps. Well it could have been worse. Glad that one failed instead of two.
--- Anyways,
- [22:41]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed.
Day 06 - Saturday - 08/10/24 - Total Days: 166

- VPD: 1.11 kPa
- Soil %: [46, 34, 34, 30]
-----------------------------------
- [20:54]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent.
--- Toasty but looking good!
--- The GGC2024 plant is still growing, but leaves are continuing to necrotize.
--- Tent temps can’t be lowered so just going to grow on.
- [20:58]: Using a loop of cotton string,
--- For vertical support wrapped the string around a drooping bud cola and attached it to branch that was not drooping.
--- Ooo wow! The terpenes are getting loud! Buds are definitely frosting up and the purple is really getting darker. Nice!
- [21:05]: Checked down both fill tubes.
--- Both reservoirs were completely dry!
--- Checked the drying soil sensor,
- [21:10]: Removed the sensor from the bag and inserted a battery.
--- Aye nice! The sensor is working again!?
--- Well I guess I’ll have an extra soil sensor soon just in-case it happens again.
--- Placed the fixed sensor (with the rubber cap on) back into #4’s soil (in the veg tent).
--- Anyways,
- [21:16]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 45% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1]
--- 34% - [CH02 EB2 - Garlic Budder #2]
--- 34% - [CH03 GFP - Garlic Budder #3]

------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch.
--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [21:47]: Poured 1 cup of distilled water down EB1’s fill tube.
--- Poured 1 cup of distilled water down EB2’s fill tube.
- [21:50]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent,
--- Looking incredible my ladies!
--- Wow veg growth is thriving in this heat!
--- At least I’m doing something right for once and have somewhat learned how to grow from seed through veg without ant issues.
--- Now I just need to get the hang of flowering.
- [21:53]: Took the total weight of an original #1 pheno.
--- She weighed 262.0g
--- It’s been 3 days since her last watering.

- Humidity: 73.9%
- VPD: 1.08 kPa
- Soil %: [44, 34, 33, 37]
-----------------------------------
- [19:19]: Night check on the 4x4 flower tent.
--- Garden is yellow and burnt, but still looks good to me!
--- Buds are still thickening up in this heat and the higher RH is helping (I think).
--- The GGC2024 plant is still stressed, but growing.
- [19:20]: Checked down both fill tubes.
--- Both reservoirs were completely dry!
- [19:32]: Checked the Ecowitt soil moisture sensor data:
--- 44% - [CH01 EB1 - Garlic Budder #1]

- [19:53]: Filled a measuring cup with 5 cups of distilled water.
------ Added 1/32tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
------ Added 1/16tsp of Bio-Phos
------ Added 1/2tsp of Horticultural Coconut
------ Added 1/16tsp Lotus Cal/Mag
--- Trying a new Calcium and Magnesium product. Since I prefer powders instead of liquids, I’m stoked to give this a go!
--- Due to gradual evaporation, liquid concentrates can increase in concentration over time. So not always sure that the ratios are exact.
--- This Lotus Cal/Mag product should be perfect and I can start incorporating this into future waterings. Although, the consistency is a bit weird (the powder texture is grainy and clumpy, but not dusty or wet). According to the site, this ‘kinetic sand’ texture is completely normal.
--- Mixed the solution and poured it straight into a pump sprayer.
- [20:15]: Misted #4’s straw mulch,
--- Focused on wetting the straw as evenly as possible.
- [20:27]: Using premixed CalMag water (1/4tsp of Lotus Cal/Mag to 1 gal distilled water),
--- Poured 2 cups of the solution down EB1’s fill tube.
--- Poured 2 cups of the solution down EB2’s fill tube.
- [20:38]: Took the total weight of the GGC2024 (a #1 pheno).
--- She weighed 364.6g
--- It’s been 3 days since her last watering.
--- Time to water!
--- Going to feed her some goodies!
- [20:40]: Filled a measuring cup with 1/2 cup of distilled water.
------ Added a pinch of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
------ Added half of 1/64tsp of Lotus Cal/Mag
------ Added 1/64tsp of Horticultural Coconut
------ Added 1/32tsp of Bio-Phos
--- Mixed and poured the solution straight into a spray bottle.
--- While on a scale,
--- Gently misted the straw mulch.
--- Focused on the straw and tried to keep the top growth dry.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [21:02]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 491.8g
--- There was no runoff.
- [21:04]: Checked on #3 and the vegging clones in the 3x3 tent,

--- At this rate, will most likely need to top again.
--- Keep on growing ladies!
- [21:09]: Filled a pump sprayer with 4 cups of distilled water.
------ Added 1/64tsp of Quillaja Saponaria Extract [60]
--- Gave the sprayer a good shake before spraying the entire solution onto #4’s straw mulch.

--- Focused mainly on the straw.
- [21:39]: Took the total weight of an original #1 pheno.
--- She weighed 243.5g
--- It’s been 6 days since her last watering.
--- Going for a dry weight of around 235g before watering back to around 325g
--- Time to water!
--- While on a scale,
--- Gently misted her straw mulch with distilled water.
--- Tried to keep the top growth dry.
--- Misted 5-10 sprays. Waited a few seconds, then misted again.
- [21:48]: Repeated this process until the cup weighed 340.7g
--- There was no runoff.
--- Removed a few yellowing leaves.
--- Marked the watering date on the side of the cup.
--- Placed her back into the tent.
- [21:56]: Checked the humidifiers.
--- Refilled the humidifiers with distilled water as needed.
--- Wow what a week!
--- Been hot and humid, but just going to keep growing forward!
--- With about 2 weeks left in this grow, going to change the flowering light cycle from 12/12 to 18/6. In theory, this should increase bio-mass and terpene production without giving enough time for a re-veg to occur.
[END OF WEEK 23|16]
Very detailed diary. I like ur heater. Something I don't need but definitely want 1 lol..
Look forward to seen how you adapt this to pushing your grows forward.
@gottagrowsometime,
Thanks growmie! Yea, sometimes I can get a bit too detailed, but this is all just for fun!
Been using Ac Infinity's Thermoforge T3 heater for just over 2 weeks and have to say that it's the best! Highly recommend! The unit easily heats a 4x4ft grow tent along with my 10x10ft lung room. Keep in mind that it never snows where I live, but it can get pretty cold in the winter (Southern California - US). What's most impressive is that in combination with the Cloudforge T7, my overall weekly VPD averages have been a lot more stable! Also the day to night temp swings have been greatly reduced (less than 10 degrees/percent difference on the weekly temps/RH averages).
I see you're running Build-A-Soil.. Great company, products, ethics! The dude has a sweet youtube channel as well worth checking out if you haven't. Cheers good luck!
