11/17 Week 8 Man I will be glad when this grow is over, if making mistakes promotes learning well... Im a fricking PHD ... Ok progress on Maggie the yellow is limited to the very top as buds are building in particular those a couple inches from the top. Thinking another root drench is in order, cant hurt and letting her dry a bit as a prep. Looks like tomorrow Layla doing ok she exhibits far fewer problems but the same issue are present she is just a hell of plant along with the Runtz which she shares the tent. Thinking about the feeding tomorrow will decide what to do then. They have plenty of time to finish up, had some issues on germination on the grow following so looks like it may be delayed a week from the scheduled 2 weeks. Maggie may need it. 11/19 Have stumbled onto to something it seems. The further I move the lights out, they are now at twice the "ideal" placement of 14" at 28" and the yellowing is disappearing to a great extent. Problem with this of course is not enough light at bud sites not on the canopy which lets face it is most of your bud. It is absolutely something that makes the plants insanely susceptible to light burn. New one for me but maybe some of yall know so making a question of it. Pics at lights out only and I missed today so new pics later if I get back in time. Update : Defoliated and tightened training on all three to spread things out from the center and open up the light and air paths. Raising the lights is working just wish I knew why as lights are higher than crap with little room for more than a few more inches. Would drop the watts to 450 but need the heat to keep the grow room level as our temps here swing 40 degrees all the time. Something I learned with the help of a carbon filter. If things normalize will begin dropping lights to see what happens. 11/20 Setting the lights at 24" as I am not risking yield any further than that on Layla and the Runtz, Have the canopy as level as it can be with Brandy getting the least light being on a coco coir block (heh) for height, which she is responding well to since I opened up the plant and no longer worried over mold issues in that main bud. Have Layla on a milk crate to bring her into decent light as well as the Runtz. She is just a lovely thing building those white crystalline buds. Maggie has turned into a beast at least I know her root ball is huge from the growth above. Seriously defoliated her removing several small lower branches and leaves blocking light and air paths. Next feed will be continuing what seems to be working, Epsom salt and bloom nuets (no calmag with epsom salt) with a foliar feed after lights out which may well be with calmag. Foliar feeding today at lights out, one quart sprayer with 1ml CaliMagic and 0.5ml wetting agent un-PH warmed to 75 F before spraying (our tap water comes out at @50F so...), just trying to hit hard and effective * New Pics after foliar Update Folks its taken 8 weeks and a final piece of the puzzle provided by Grey_wolf resulted in a near full strength cal-mag foliar feeding and the last def bites the dust. See what happens from here but its the first time I have felt good about this grow since the bad time germing at week one. *big sigh of relief* Have a whole list of things I will never do again in soil more about that at harvest. Right now I need to work on why calcium is blocked at the roots but thats another day right now I just wanna look at em. 😁 11/22 Another foliar feed same as before just diluted 30% and all three got it today JIC Cannot find a pale leaf or top and hairs are standing up on the top buds for once and buds building nice on the lower ares the defs were cleared up first. Going to stop the foliars for a few days see what happens but will resume at first sign of need. Maggie has potential even after all this and we going to help her be all she can :D 11/22 Feeding day - Bio-Bloom 7ml - calmag 4ml - Recharge .5tsp / gal at 6.5PH to all three. No foliar today 11/23 The thickness of the hair growth on Layla is amazing! Will try and get pics at lights out of it if my crappy camera will catch it. Never seen anything like it, once again THIS this is what we intended by growing Stardawg :) Update: Pics and vid hope it comes through well enough as for the green in that tent and the dense hairs on Layla

Grow Questions

See pics Brandy and Maggie curled leaves-yellowing-spotting so making an attempt to fix the issue with a 6.1 PH root drench of Cal-Mag 5ml and Kangaroots 10ml / gal about 2 gal for each plenty of runoff that tested at 6.1 PH. Soil has tested twice at 6.5-6.8, notes in grow. idea?

Sometimes leaves will tend to cup or curl down due to root problems but sometimes the curl upwards too. One warning flag was that the plant was drying out every day (you should only have to water your plant every few days, if it’s drying out in just one it likely needs more water at a time). It’s always a good idea to listen to your plants when deciding when to water, as opposed to following a set schedule. Each plant and environment is different, and what works for some plants may not work as well for others!

Gonna follow this one, i guess you'll catch me up since you're indoors and I just started outdoors, i can tell i'll be drooling over these indoor ones in like 6 to 7 weeks , with LST and a FIM or two it might be that you get this over full tent anyway, one can only hope right? 🚀 good luck growmie 👊

@CRiSPrGrow, Oh yeah it can solved just no need at present to do so, and I can be lazy 😁 I cannot see any situation barring inability to get seed for going photo indoors, outdoors absolutely, so for now its ok. Adding some netting behind the germ station just to prevent accidents. Now that stuff I do lol
rhodes68
rhodes68commented5 years ago
@CRiSPrGrow, Lol basically my philosophy is becoming just get out of the way of the great genetics. Pushing causes more problems than not IMHO. So much easier to raise healthy plants and forget the litany of complications available. Yes God has this thing booked, but that's just the system we have to operate well within it to be successful. I am 11-0 with "bag seed" 8 for me three for a friend, least stressful germ ever I mean inch and a half tails in less than a day on the paper towel though we did have to nurse a couple as expected. See those seed are completely mature, the bad ones get discarded. Cant do that with $10 a pop seeds. 👍

If you spray the foliage be sure to get under the leaves and try to do it when the lights aren't on and make sure the leaves are dry before they come on. It looks like maybe an iron possibly a sulfur deficiency or both. If the soil ph is that high most likely sulfur. Hopefully the Epsom salt will correct it. You can also try to use an Epsom salt foliage spray 1 tsp per gallon of water once or twice a week until it improves.👍

rhodes68commented5 years ago
@Philindicus, That is my hope thus the rooting drench and they are picking up as normal leaves are appearing though yellowed. Keep looking at Layla and thinking what could have been heh. Already planning next grow in 70-30 or 60-40 buffered coco coir and perlite. I still see soil as the better medium but this kind of issue makes unknowns a big deal. For now the soil can stay outdoors.
rhodes68
rhodes68commented5 years ago
@Philindicus, I also thought of a combination of genetics (making the plant more susceptible) and a partial lockout reducing the supply of particular nuets. No way of proving that of course but these are all Fast Bud and they share a common ancestor in ruderalis or so goes the rumor. I can reestablish biological cultures, good dose of Recharge and Fish Sh!t would do that or so goes the conventional wisdom.

@rhodes68, They will problably pull through this once the roots fill those 7 gallon pots and start pulling in the nutrients.

@Buddha2, It seems something clicked with us during the Stardawg grow. It was so difficult yet during all of it our plants got bigger. Switching to coco was the last piece of the puzzle. Basically I just follow Dr. MJCoco's book, it is on amazon or on his site for free. Heh look Ma! I can follow directions 😇 See on a serious note my wife has medical issues as do I and this is giving us a new lease on life. Motivation is always important aint it 😉

@EZgrower, Thank you Yeah I always seem to find new and interesting ways to kill a plant, haven't succeeded yet but I try 😋 I grow due to my wife's tumor protocol, she is even growing now check out HisHope and great little Runtz plant we can upon simply by fortune. We ingest everything, I have COPD and should not, hell wont smoke. but I am eyeing a dry herb vape 😇 Miss smoking my one hitter that we used while living in a prison state and cannabis hard to come by, we live in a freer state now. This is MUCH better. May your yields be plentiful and your bud potent

@DankGardener, There is a misunderstanding, they have only been watered twice in 8 days last being 2 days ago when I did the root drench on Brandy and Maggie. Layla has yet to have her second watering so its been 7 full days for her when I water tonight at lights on. Ambient humidity has been high-ish due to weather so plants are not drying out quickly, even my other grow is drinking slow lately. Have lowered humidity but doubt it an issue. My concern for overwatering was due to pot size at transplant only and now I doubt that what I saw on was overwatering. I agree with the root thing though, something is going on down there but only have one tool left in the box, peroxide. So waiting to see
DankGardener
DankGardenercommented5 years ago
@rhodes68, I think your root problem is caused by underwatering. If the soil is drying out everyday yes you are underwatering. Seedlings like to be watered ever 2 to 3 days. If it goes past give less water but if it's drying out in 1 day give more
rhodes68

To the folks so kind as to answer the Grow Question Thanks :) I perhaps used the wrong term as it gets a little grey, Light Bleaching is what I should have called it. Light burn itself is no mystery to us and what I am looking for is some explanation of why the plant is so susceptible to it. PH, root drenches, and all other considerations have been done to death on this plant and either present a dead end or beyond me to correct. The Ca Def though that is what I was trying to remember and heard somewhere once months ago so I knew it had to be something. It fits with the issues all along the grow on this plant. Going to begin Cal-Mag foliar feeding next opportunity. Thanks Grey_Wolf 👍 Update: Huge turn around in just a few hours. 🙏 A lot of insight tonight on why the last cal-mag foliar didn't work. Full strength and the wetting agent plus there are a lot more healthy leaves on the plant now to take in the nuets. Changing my track to foliar for the deficiencies and the pot for hard hitters. Seems simple stupid now but too much at once on this grow. My Dad always said I wasn't happy unless I was knee deep in alligators ... yeah he knew me. Heheh no chit huh folks anyway thanks guys love the site. Now I am gonna take a good dose of LSD-25 kick back and look at the plant a bit. helps me think deep thoughts err folks?
