Strain
Smoke Report - Star Pupil:
The Star Pupil is a very interesting strain.
Smell-wise I've never had cannabis that smelled like that and it's quite hard to describe, I'd say she has a really nice funk in a sweet cheesy/perfumey kind of way with some pine in the back.
Look-wise she's beautiful, darker shade of green with visible purple "spots" and darker orange hairs. Oh and she frosty! And when you grind it, you end up with a pile of half green pods and half purple, almost pinkish pods.
Effects, This is the even more interesting part: They come fast, she's not a creeper. I'll feel relaxed but not in a couch-lock/lazy way, maybe a bit slow but still a pretty clear-headed high, if you smoke with friend there's this group happiness that happens. As I'm sampling nugs as it cures longer, I've noticed being more creative and the funk being even more complex that the first "real" smoke test (that I did 16 days into the cure).
Grow Report and lessons learned:
- Should have started feeding nutes way earlier, I waited till week 6, when leaves started showing P and K deficiency signs (which, from what I understand, usually show up ~4 weeks after the facts)
- I should have stopped weaving branches through the SCRoG net way earlier as well, I stopped at week 3-4 of flowering so they never really stretched above the net. This caused several problems: (1) instead of spreading the nugs out they were growing into the net and close to other nugs and leaves, that meant less airflow and less light-penetration to the lower canopy; (2) the Five Star being much more of a Sativa than the Star Pupil she grew faster, she was taking more than her half of her tent and growing into the Star Pupil.
- I had a lot of new variables this run, such as new lights 4 weeks in, new nutes 9 weeks in, dehumidifier added but was still able to reach 1g per watt, compared to ~0.25g/w on my first and previous run.
I'd be interested in growing the Star Pupil again, but without topping her by just using LST to tie her down and get a similar result, faster. As for the Five Star, I'd definitely grow her again but not in the near future, I have plenty of sativa-leaning strains to try.
