From my recent trials and tribulations learning this... During those first 7-10 days, like jef79 says, keep it in ambient light - like a cfl 30" away or on your desk etc... window sill with indirect light. Weak light is keap while it has no root system. You need to keep dark hours <10hrs, of course. Whatever cycle you will have it in your vege area, i'd mimic that, but with weak light.
After 7-10, you can slowly introduce to your lights. If it falls over, remove it, and it will recover. Wait a day and try again. If you intend to clone the same plant many times, takes some notes and save the troubles later. If you can see your roots developing, that can help guide this process. Nest a trasnluscent cup insode an opaque one, for example. Stays dark and you can inspect a bit.
After that growth slowly ramps up... ~14-21 days from cut before vigorous vegetative growth for most.
If you take a cutting from a young plant, it may not root. Otherwise, you should expect ~100% success and only user error is likely. Don't need root hormone, and if you use it, less is more.
Don't touch it as much as possible. Leave it alone. If you use a nested cup, only look after at least 7 days. Don't let your OCD disturb the lil clone-to-be.
