Gr.Masters & those of whom have many grows/chops-HELP!: This is my first grow; I've researched a ton of info/videos & using a microscope. I'm still arguing with myself. Cloudy, no Amber yet. Do I have another (approx) 2 weeks left? Looking for a little couch lock so 10-15% amber?

Amber means oxidised trykes, it might create more terps or wierd compounds, but you really don't want any of it. All cloudy, no amber is the peak potency, anything more than 15% amber and its character will change for the worst. If you're all cloudy no ambers you're in the perfect window. Trykes take 2 weeks to rippen , dont let them get rotten though ! 🚀

Hey there @Flowerbudder I cant help but notice this question is still open and unresolved. Let me try a stab at resolving it! The transition of Trichomes goes from Clear to Cloudy to Amber. Typically Amber Trichomes start appear whenever the Cloud Thricomes have covered nearly 50% of the buds so that's when you should start checking. If you are looking for a couch locking high then, like you said, you will want a higher % of amber then usual to gets these effects! So for that I suggest a 10% Amber amount when you start your final flush of the plant so that when harvest time comes you will be around 15-20% as expected. Don't forget to leave a little extra % room when doing a flush (which is suggested for smoother smoke), because the plant matures while this is happening! I hope I gave you a little more insight as to WHEN you should harvest to best obtain 15-20% amber Trichomes and helped you resolve this question 😎

You wanna start doing it when they are at like 10 % because by the time you dry and then cure it will have changed if you wait to long you lose out on potency and flavor . Another way you can do it is test it take a little piece and smoke it how ever you see fit this way you can see if it needs to wait a bit or if its ready enough for your liking . The couch lock effect doesn't come from the amount of amber or milky triches there are it comes from the strain itself . Other then that you done a really bang up job on this grow ! Be proud of yourself ! -Happy Growing!

Hello ! The most “couchlock” or sedating effect happens towards the end of the pot harvest window, when the trichomes have become a darker color (usually amber/gold). The best results from amber trichomes come from indica strains. Some of the THC has converted into less psychoactive CBN, which has calming and anti-anxiety effects. With some strains, the trichomes will even turn red or purple! Harvesting later will increase the sedating effects, but may also start reducing the psychoactive effects. I hope it will help you 😁👍

Forget all books and researches. Now you are no more anewbie, you are a beginning good grower. Look at your plant and listen to your " Belly" what does it say=? if you trust yourself in that stage its the best you can do. From now on everything you do is the Right Thing. Your Grow is nearly done and the plant ends her Lifecircle. She will go but her Effects will stay for longer. Go deep into and think what you should do.

Amber thricomes are degrading. If you want couch lock, grow an indica. Cloudy is what you want, peak THC content.
