It's not easy to tell with the naked eye thats for sure , you would need a portable microscope or a good magnifying glass one thats 30x or stronger I will leave links for those items in the bottom of the answer . The best time to harvest is when your plants got 70 % milky 20 % amber and 10 % clear trichomes . The reason I say this is because during cure it will continue to ripen so if you let it go to far you will lose potency and thats not something we want as a grower . At the end of the day tho its all up to personal preference . Other then that these ladies look wonderful and jam packed full of that sticky icky ! I hope this information sheds some light in when the plant is ready to be harvested . Here are some links to some of the items you may find useful to check the development of the trichomes : Portable microscope ( https://www.amazon.ca/Carson-6X-12X-Lighted-Pocket-Microscope/dp/B00LAX52IQ/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=26YCEBYQBKNF8&keywords=portable+microscope&qid=1551474045&s=gateway&sprefix=portable+micro%2Caps%2C170&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1 ) and a magnifying glass ( https://www.amazon.ca/Fancii-Lighted-Slide-Pocket-Magnifying/dp/B019UYLIYI/ref=sr_1_13?crid=3GTXSB7PTVXTT&keywords=magnifying+glass&qid=1551474076&s=gateway&sprefix=magnif%2Caps%2C186&sr=8-13 ) Happy Growing !!

Nope the points of maturity are based on the trichomes and the effect based on the trichomes ratio. The 50/50 white/hazel is the ratio I'm searching for as it is a powerfull couch locking weed that you get from it , it will makes you sleep each time for sure. The older the plant is and the bigger the bud will be so at a certain point the buds will looks like they are swallowing the pistils but this effect appears almost heavy time 80% of your pistils becomes brown šŸ˜Š

Hi @Jisaac904! Pistils / Hairs are not the best way to tell when your flushing window is open. You should wait until all of your buds have gone fat & rock-solid, check the trichomes with a magnifier/hand-held microscope, and start flushing when the trichomes are turning from clear to milky. Then, watch carefully everyday and wait for all the trichomes to be milky (some may start becoming amber, you're good to go!). I'll be around, keep us up-to-date and good luck with this beauty! šŸ‘Š

The pistils will darken and retract, but never fully dissapear into the calyxes. When that happens, it usually matches the point of peak thricomes maturity, but not always. So it's a very Isela visual cue, but not always accurate.

hey there, the pistils are actually not a perfect way to figure things out, why ? first of all after the chop all the pistils turn brown anyway. Second, every genetic is quite different, some gens get brown pistills pretty early others never really get brown pistils, and same with the trychomes, some strains get amber others dont really ever get amber. for example my gorilla never really got brown pistills or amber trychs even after four months ! yeah i know this isnt the easy answer you're looking for but it's the truth at least ! and it gets worse : max THC is when the trichomes are fully milky no ambers. ambers/hazels mean that the trichome has been oxidised and the magic juice has less THC and more CBN/CBD... so it really depends what you're going for : max THC or a mixed/balanced high with some body high / couch lock effects. Again not the simple answer you're looking for but it's the truth. I'm always looking for max THC, others are looking for max couch lock ... its a matter of taste ! hope this helps ! šŸš€

Hey there, so I think watching for your pistils to discolor and curl in is a key sign, but trichromes everyone has a different opinion, ed Rosenthal says that the second they change from glassy to milky or amber they're degrading the thc content. So i think it all depends on what kind of weed you prefer.
