What's your opinion on pruning off the 5th node and the top 4 out of 12 inches of growth? I have 2 plants growing too fast and I believe this would remedy it. I dont want to hurt them, but I dont need a super uneven canopy. Pruning just the top hasn't slowed it down enough

Nothing wrong with topping at the 5th node. Now with that said 4in. to take of most likey will add some stress it is doable tho especially when they are healthy like your plants look. I have done it before with mixed results some plants had no problem some got stressed but made it fine. You can always take like the top 2in off and do some HST or LST to keep the canopy even just be careful to not snap anything. or you could just try the LST or HST a not top. A lot of it is personal preference. like for example I prefer to do LST or HST instead of keep topping. Once have already topped a plant once or twice i usually don't like to top more than twice. so that's why I prefer to do bending an what not after the topping if i still need to control the canopy height or fill in spaces. another thing you can try to slow down the vertical growth is to give the top of the stem a little pinch not enough to damage the skin of the plant but just enough to where it squishes the stem a tiny bit and yes it can stress it out a lil but no more than topping if done right. the idea behind it is that once you do it the plant will focus on healing that spot instead of vertical growth and most of the time the stem grows back thicker/tougher than before. good luck!. Hope this helps and if you got any other ?'s just shoot me a message👍 Happy Growing HoffGuyy

topping any photoperiod is totally fine actually because you can always keep it in veg and fix it up nice. Why the previous topping didnt work that well is that your lamp to plant distance is too far, lower it to 12-14 inches and you will see them bush out real nice. Hope this helps ! 🚀

So generally this method will work in order to help train your plant to have a nice even canopy as well as help control the height of the plant . You really wanna wait till the 5th node to do it tho this way you can ensure your tap root is long enough because once you remove the top the plant stops growing height and will grow wider , this is the same with the root system once the plant is topped however the main root (Tap root) will stop growing length wise all together so its important to make sure that tap root is long enough . A good way to measure this is to look at your plant(s) what ever is sticking out above ground height and width is going to be roughly what your root system looks like underground this will give you an idea of how long your tap root is judging by the height of the plant . With all that being said topping in an excellent way to train your plants and make the canopy more even . Just remember to give them 7-10 days to heal if your thinking about topping again or possibly even flipping the lights to 12-12 . I hope this information helps you on your quest to becoming a grow master !! :D :D -Happy Growing!

Photoperiod strain correct? Then you have all the time in the world to correct any changes to being more desirable. Better to slow down now temporarily rather than wind up with a stiff plant that's too tall and you can't do much to. I had a plant snap basically the middle top part cleanly off accidental topping i guess, and it recovered, broke its apical dominance and became the biggest producing plant of last season.✌️ Go with your gut. Veg plants will always make more until you flip them.
