Hi mate,
I'd definitely defoliate. All you want to do is take off the fan leaves that are blocking the bud sites, a few at a time. You could do a couple today and then a couple more tomorrow so you don't stress your plant out too much. If you're stuck have a look at my diary (stardawg & girl scout cookies) You'll see how big she is just from me defoliating and some LST. You just want more light going through your plant, penetrating the canopy more. If you need to, just shoot me a message and I'll walk you through. Should be easy enough though.
