PH Pen Problems

When you caliber, it's like drawing a line on a chart: you need 2 points to make a straight line. Hope it make sense. Most pens that comes with calibre solutions have 2 different samples. Otherwise, distilled water should be a perfect 7. If you are not happy with the overall quality (these looks just like amazon's cheapest of the cheapest) just send them back.

I bought the red Hanna pH meter. I only do 1 single point calibration at 7.0 I bought a bottle of 7.0 calibration fluid with it. It works perfectly. Every time I've checked it and calibrated it, it was always on point and automatically adjusts to the temperature. If you keep fluid ( preferably 7.0 in the lid so it never goes dry) it will never fall out of adjustment and will never start registering wrong. Very important to keep the probe wet at all times unless your just wiping or drying it off to place back in the cap with 7.0 solution. This is my practice, I use the same meter to test my hydro and soil run off with no problems. Just rinse the probe off with clean water after each use. Everyone has the yellow ones fail constantly.

Ph pens are the most important tool. Those Amazon ones suck cock and you will find your self spending more money tossing them in the garbage and fucking your hard work up. Every body has a budget but try your best to spend at least 60-100. I have a HANNA pen and it hasn’t failed me in 2 years. I paid about 70 Canadian for it. If you have extra cash I recommend BLUE LABS

@gmslave so don’t use the 9 when calibrating also can I buy just the calibration packets ?

When you calibrate your pen you calibrate 7 first then 4, then back to 7 then back to 4. You do this with the solution until 7 comes up 7 and 4 comes up 4. You may need to go over the 7 and 4 a few times until their both reading proper. If you just calibrated the 7 then then the 4 once, then your 7 would be out of whack. Go over the both of the solutions until 7 reads 7 and 4 reads 4 over and over to calibrate correctly.

Don’t use crap pens! Gotta spend at least 0 on a hannahydro or bluelab
