When doing low stress tie down training, do I need to have an oscillating fan on the whole time? Or do I wait until a certain point and then turn it on? I've never done lst before so idk

The previous answers probably got it right. No need for the fan for LST but I can add that when plants are exposed to a breeze their stalks/stems grow stronger. Just a note on LST: If you're bending the plants note that they are less "elastic" when watered and more elastic when thirsty. Best to LST when they are dry so you don't risk breaking it.

You dont need to have the fan powered ON the whole time but, is recommended for air circulation I use a timer with 15min ON and 15min OFF so you can save 50% energy

A fan has nothing to with training. As already said its to promote air flow and avoid stagnant air thats low in C02, oxegen and high in moisture- all things u dont want that a fan will fix. leave it on the whole time the lights are on ok, I set mine to come on an hr before the lights come on, and it stays on for an hr after the lights go out, thats in veg. In bloom once the buds have formed a bit and i start to worry about bud rot, I'll often leave the fan running on low the whole dark period and run it on medium with lights on. This applies to a grow room, not a tent....but its the same idea just on a smaller scale in a tent. Air flow is vital! if the plants are not having their branches moved a bit by some air flow, they dont grow up to be as strong and risk snapping branches more often during training.

The fan is to promote circulation and to keep the air from becoming stagnant. You should keep a fan on throughout the entire grow because the inline vent fan doesn’t provide the proper amount of air circulation on it’s own.
